Our client based in KwaZulu Natal is seeking a Technical Sales Representative to join their team. The ideal candidate should have worked closely with architects, engineers, and contractors, cold calling directly to the market as opposed to going through middlemen (e.g., distributors).

  • Deliver sales revenue based on regional sales target and personal sales target.
  • Accountable for own, creation of new, and maintenance of existing area customer relationships.
  • To maximise market advantage through a strong focus on the contractor market sector, whilst ensuring alignment with end user requirements, specifier requirements and overall customer relationship management.
  • Accountable for maintenance of personal trade spend within the assigned sales region.
  • To work across the internal and external supply chains, engaging with customers to promote and demonstrate the functionality of the system and its values.
  • Offer technical expertise and advice to the market, on the advantages of the product range.
  • Ensuring the effective communication of value propositions in relation to the total company offering, both internally and externally.
  • Responsible to train customer base on existing products, new products and value add propositions (eg – on site demonstrations, hands on product training)
  • A strong focus on project management.
  • Build sustainable relationships to maximise market advantage ensuring the Key Performance Indicator is met regarding companies specification vs projects.
  • Maintain the target closure rate as established by management.
  • Provide a monthly forecast to the relevant person on tracked projects.
  • Meeting the overall forecast accuracy target as set by Management.
  • Ensure follow through and finalization from specification to order.
  • Responsible for achievement of debt management within the defined area of responsibility.
  • Articulate companies offer, specification, product expertise or advice, highlighting the advantages of product range, over and above other competitor offerings.
  • Proactively identify new opportunities for enhanced product offerings, by uncovering and understanding these through the application of trained techniques, supply chain knowledge, commercial awareness and in-depth knowledge of market and customer requirements.
  • Analyse and assess customer product mix to show value add to the customer and company, whilst aligning with overall company strategy.
  • Adherence to company reporting procedure/commercial admin systems, offering appropriate feedback and information when required or requested.
  • Adherence to strict ethical codes of conduct and maintenance of confidentiality at all times.
  • Manage product performance issues in line with company guidelines.
  • Update of CRM including and not limited to, Visit reports, Customer information and Market Intelligence.
  • Meet required monthly, quarterly and annual sales targets as set and agreed upon.
  • Train relevant customer and any further individuals according to the agreed annual target.
  • Attend internal and external meeting, as and when require.
  • Matric Qualification.
  • Valid Drivers License.
  • Experience with working closely with architects, engineers, and contractors.
  • Technical Sales Experience.
