We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven External Technical Sales Rep to join our client's team in the engineering rental sector. The ideal candidate will be responsible for identifying and creating rental service and sales opportunities through sales visits, effective communication, and strategic planning. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining customer satisfaction, negotiating contracts, and achieving revenue goals for the assigned territory.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Sales visits to customers at job sites, business offices and institutional account locations to identify and create rental service and sales opportunities.
  • Sales visits on key account administrative and management personnel in offices to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Handle customer service issues in the field and negotiate rental contracts.
  • Handle customer sales objections and the ability to close on a rental deal.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the market conditions (eg. current customers, competitors, opportunities) for the assigned territory.
  • Develop and execute a strategy to achieve revenue goals.
  • Work with Sales and budget forecasts.
  • Conduct productive cold calling and prospecting activities.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance customer and market share.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or other Technical or relevant rental experience.
  • In possession of a valid and clear driver's licence
  • Minimum of 5 years working experience in technical solutions selling.
  • Excellent verbal and written English & Afrikaans required.
  • Willing to travel and be on standby as and when required in the performance of the duties.
  • Clear understanding of optimised territory management.
  • Confident and a good team player.
  • Passionate about Customer satisfaction.
  • Computer literate.
  • Competent in understanding and communicating product and technical information.
  • Sound technical understanding and ability to quickly adopt to new products/ technical developments.
  • Significant technical application expertise to specify the best solution for the customer.
  • Strong sales techniques and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to cope with pressure and setbacks and learn to develop accordingly.
  • The following would be an advantage; Sales experience in the mining industry or similar technical industry. Compressor/ Generator experience would be a plus.
  • Extensive local travel within South Africa – frequent overnight travel.
