We are looking for a Dynamic Entrepreneurial Minded Engineer (Electro-mechanical/Mechanical/Electrical) with natural leadership and problem-solving skills, and ideally from an FMCG/Manufacturing background - to take on a key role of FACTORY ENGINEER – to be tasked with undertaking cost saving activities to reduce product cost and hence improve overall profitability.
Key Competencies will include: Production/Process Control Management, Asset reliability and optimization, Enterprise resource planning, Process improvement/Cost reduction and Resource Management.
SUMMARY OF ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide technical inputs to third party manufacturers, where necessary, to improve output, productivity and quality of products and assist the procurement team in the process of identifying potential new, or improved 3rd party manufacturing partners.
• Undertake cost saving activities to reduce product cost and hence improve the profitability. Accountable for continuous OEE improvement, working in collaboration with planning, manufacturing, technical, quality and R&D teams.
• Work closely with the quality and R&D teams to overcome technical production efficiency related issues due to supplier quality and product formulation challenges.
• Identify areas for technical improvement, building business cases and providing technical direction and oversight for all quality, H&S, GMP, capacity and process improvement related projects.
• Implement and manage maintenance strategies across 2 manufacturing sites
• Lead and manage a team of technicians, through site maintenance supervisors - 2 manufacturing sites, 11 team members
• Manage technician task load, performance and work quality
• Create and implement team training and upskilling plans
• Preform maintenance tasks as required
• Preform project tasks as required
• Work together with Operations Managers to ensure manufacturing KPI’s are achieved
• Improve and report on MTTR and MTBF
• Manage and build relationships with sub-contractors, equipment suppliers and service providers
• Strict stock management of critical spares
• Manage the control and standards of the workshop equipment and housekeeping
• Implementation and planning of preventative maintenance schedules
• Implement and maintain health and safety procedures
• Initiate, cost, and manage critical improvement projects across all operations areas
• Create cost savings and efficiency improvement project plans for approval
• Submit and present monthly maintenance and project update reports
• Manage and accountable to annual repairs and maintenance budget
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & COMPETENCE:
• Bachelor degree -Electro-mech /Mechanical Engineering /Electrical Engineering
• +5 years post qualification experience (preferably in a manufacturing field – FMCG advantageous)
• +3 years Proven Leadership Experience
• Good understanding of mechanical concepts: Pneumatics, hydraulics, pumps etc.
• PLC knowledge advantageous
• Experience in working with multi-discipline teams
• Must have good computer skills -MS office Personal Attributes:
