Main Function

To effectively control and manage the Engineering Stores to ensure smooth production operations and support to the Engineering team.

Roles And Responsibilities

  • Ensure consistent stock availability to support production operations.
  • Conduct accurate stock-taking and cycle counting to maintain inventory accuracy and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Monitor stock levels, notify management of shortages, and manage reordering processes.
  • Maintain stock control to prevent overstocking or shortages.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure reliability and efficiency.
  • Negotiate optimal pricing and quantities with suppliers to secure cost-effective deals.
  • Place orders promptly using Oracle systems and through direct supplier engagement.
  • Implement cost-effective purchasing practices to optimize expenditure.
  • Receive, inspect, and record incoming materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Manage the issuance of tools, spare parts, and consumables to production and engineering team.
  • Accurately reconcile goods received against purchase orders, both physically and in accounting records.
  • Track tool usage and maintain detailed records of issued and returned items.
  • Ensure precise documentation and data input for all inventory transactions.
  • Maintain accurate records of stock levels and update inventory systems regularly.
  • Facilitate the timely submission of accounts and ensure prompt payment of creditors.
  • Prevent delays in maintenance and repair activities by ensuring the timely provision of parts.
  • Maintain the availability of spare parts while effectively controlling working capital.
  • Ensure the store area is safe, clean, and hazard-free in line with company policies and legislation.
  • Maintain a well-organized store environment that complies with safety and housekeeping standards.

Minimum Qualification

  • Matric/Grade 12 is essential.
  • A Diploma in Logistics, Inventory Management, or Supply Chain Management is required.

Experience

  • A minimum of 2–5 years’ relevant working experience is essential.
  • Prior experience in storekeeping, inventory management, or a related field is advantageous.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in inventory management systems and basic computer software (e.g., Oracle, SAP, or similar inventory systems).
  • Strong computer literacy, particularly in MS Office (Excel), for record-keeping and reporting
