Job Description
NOV Africa is seeking an Associate Hydraulic Engineer to join our team Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth). In this role you will support the Pressure Control Group by contributing to the design, development, testing, and implementation of hydraulic control systems. This role will involve close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to ensure that our control systems meet the highest standards of performance and reliability.

NOV Africa is seeking an Associate Hydraulic Engineer to join our team Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth). In this role you will support the Pressure Control Group by contributing to the design, development, testing, and implementation of hydraulic control systems. This role will involve close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to ensure that our control systems meet the highest standards of performance and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and development of hydraulic control systems for various applications.
- Prepare Hydraulics Flow Diagram, bills of material, technical documentation, and test procedures and engineering reports
- Perform simulations and analyses to evaluate system performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Participate in the testing and validation of hydraulic components and systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate hydraulic control solutions into existing and new product lines.
- Support troubleshooting and resolution of hydraulic system issues during the development and production phases.
- Keep abreast of industry trends and advancements in hydraulic technologies to contribute innovative ideas for product enhancements.
- Provide technical support and guidance to manufacturing and quality assurance teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience or coursework related to hydraulic systems and controls is preferred.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in simulation tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, or equivalent.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Basic understanding of control theory and fluid dynamics.
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Internship or co-op experience in an engineering environment.
- Familiarity with CAD software and hydraulic circuit design (AutoCAD and Creo Preferred).
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements for hydraulic systems.
