Role Purpose
To provide high-level business support to the Head of Strategic Projects, ensuring optimal efficiency in managing strategic and operational responsibilities. This role plays a critical part in enabling effective business decision-making by coordinating activities that underpin financial analysis, data insights, and reporting. The Executive Finance Associate will act as a key enabler in the CFO’s office; supporting strategic initiatives, liaising with stakeholders, and ensuring the seamless execution of deliverables that drive business performance.

Requirements
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Tax Act, Companies Act and risk management principles
- Financial management
- Financial services (insurance preferrable)
- Financial modelling
- Finance Degree (Accounting, Actuarial or related field)
- CA(SA), FASSA (advantageous)
- CFA or MBA (advantageous)
- 3 years’ experience in financial management in an insurance/financial services environment
- Exposure to key business projects
Internal Process
- Coordinate and prepare executive-level reports, presentations, and briefing materials for board meetings, investor engagements, and financial results, ensuring accuracy, alignment, and professional delivery.
- Support the CFO’s office in the end-to-end execution of strategic projects—tracking progress, coordinating inputs, organizing high-level meetings, and consolidating outcomes into actionable reports.
- Collate and synthesize data from financial reports (including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements) into executive summaries that inform decision-making.
- Assist in identifying and monitoring key financial performance indicators by liaising with finance teams and ensuring timely delivery of insights to the CFO’s office.
- Enable the CFO’s contribution to long-term strategic planning by coordinating market research, gathering inputs from business leaders, and ensuring alignment of documentation and milestones.
- Represent the CFO’s office in relevant forums when required, ensuring effective communication of key messages and diligent follow-up on agreed actions.
- Continuously drive improvements in reporting processes, meeting efficiency, and information flow within the CFO’s office, contributing to operational excellence.
- Foster strong, professional relationships with key stakeholders across Group Finance and the broader organization to support effective collaboration and information flow on behalf of the CFO’s office.
- Promote a culture of service excellence by supporting the CFO’s office in delivering a consistently high standard of engagement with internal and external clients.
- Assist in identifying opportunities to enhance internal processes and communication touchpoints, ensuring continuous improvement in the CFO office’s responsiveness and effectiveness.
- Build and maintain trusted, collaborative relationships with peers, internal stakeholders, and external partners to support the effectiveness of the CFO’s office.
- Proactively support and influence change initiatives by ensuring clear communication, effective scheduling, and smooth execution of related activities.
- Demonstrate ownership of personal and professional development by staying current on organizational practices, industry trends, and executive support best practices.
- Contribute to a culture of innovation and continuous improvement by sharing ideas, refining processes, and enhancing how the CFO’s office engages with the wider business.
- Uphold high levels of accountability, time management, and productivity in managing complex tasks with discretion, resilience, and attention to detail.
- Support the CFO’s oversight of budgeting and financial planning processes by coordinating documentation, tracking key deliverables, and assisting with internal financial reporting logistics.
- Help monitor financial risk activities and compliance requirements by ensuring timely submission and filing of relevant records, audit materials, and governance documentation.
- Assist with the administration of financial processes within the CFO’s office, including invoice tracking, procurement follow-ups, and budget oversight for executive expenses.
- Promote accountability and adherence to financial controls by supporting process compliance and escalating concerns or inconsistencies when necessary.
