Experienced in collaborating with project engineers and software teams to support and optimize in-house AMR (Automated Meter Reading) platforms. You'll be responsible for maintaining clear records, managing tools and equipment efficiently, and proactively suggest process improvements to enhance operational effectiveness. You'll be responsible for maintaining clear records, managing tools and equipment efficiently, and proactively suggest process improvements to enhance operational effectiveness. What You'll Do
- Review job schedules and plan out the day's tasks with the team.
- Travel to different sites to install or upgrade meters and connect them to communication systems.
- Make sure all wiring is safe, correct, and up to code before starting any work.
- Test meters after installation to make sure they're working properly and sending data correctly.
- Fix any problems with faulty meters, wiring, or signal connections.
- Keep clear records of all work done, including issues found and how they were fixed.
- Help train junior electricians or guide subcontractors on proper procedures.
- Work closely with the engineering and software team when needed.
- Follow all safety rules and make sure others on site do the same.
- Look for ways to improve how work is done or suggest better tools and methods.
- Function related experience: 5+ years post-trade experience in electrical installations, including meter work.
- Solid background in AMR systems or related technologies.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve electrical or communication faults on-site.
- 2+ years in a lead or supervisory role within field-based electrical projects.
- Experience working to national electrical codes and safety standards.
- Experience with communication technologies used in Automated Meter Reading (AMR) systems.
- Electrical Engineering Diploma or Higher Certificate
- Senior Certificate
- Electrical Trade Certificate (Installation Electrician or Wireman's License)
- Registration with the Department of Labour as Electrician
- Qualifications preferred:
- NQF Level 5 or 6 in Electrical Engineering (e.g., National Diploma or Higher Certificate)
- Certification or training in Automated Meter Reading systems from an accredited training provider.
- Additional qualifications in Electrical Installation Rules (EIR) or relevant regulatory compliance courses.
- Supervisory or Technical Management certification related to electrical or utility services.
- Permanent Position
- Location: Pretoria
- Work environment: Based at Lynwood Office Site visits as per call outs / schedules
- Physical demands: Site environment
- Travel: Local and International travel as and when required - Drivers License
