Job Description,
Reporting to Senior Manager: Valuations, the role will be responsible for analysing risk evaluation data, coordinating, preparing, and performing actuarial analyses which are required when developing new products, projecting future results, and monitoring the experience of PPS insurance products.
This role will provide exposure to how Mutual Insurers work, Regulatory Reporting, IFRS17 and SAM.
The role will also interact with other teams within the Actuarial Services department, as well as with other departments within the PPS Group, interact with the Head of Actuarial Function’s team and the Group’s external auditors.

Education
- Matric
- Completed University Degree majoring in Actuarial Science, honours is preferable
- Making good progress with actuarial exams - AMASSA exam level preferable
- Good computer knowledge - MS Outlook, Excel and Word. PROPHET (actuarial software), MS Power BI, SQL, and other relevant knowledge preferable
- Must have at least 3 years of experience in the Life Insurance actuarial environment with a strong focus on Valuation and Reporting experience (SAM, IFRS4, EV), IFRS 17 preferable.
- Strong Technical experience with proven track-record of execution.
- Prophet and DCS experience preferable.
- SQL or other programming experience preferable - comfortable with working with large amounts data.
- Key interest in developing a career in the valuation, balance sheet management and experience investigation.
- Knowledge of actuarial principles and retail insurance products
- Knowledge and background of the financial services industry
- Computer literate, strong Excel skills required. SQL skills would be of benefit
- Prophet knowledge and use
- Knowledge of MS Office
- Valuation of liabilities (IFRS17 & SAM), analysis & allocation of profits
- Assistance with the maintenance, improvement, documentation of systems, valuation processes for profits/liability calculations
- Responsible for contributing to changes and improvements to the valuation and analysis methodology where requires.
- Assistant with completion of valuator, statutory and ASISA returns.
- Compilation of management reports and special investigations from time to time
- Delivering efficient and consistent service and support to all internal and external clients, hence ensuring a quality interaction and relationship with all stakeholders.
- Contributing towards projects, initiatives, ad-hoc queries, and team initiatives
