PURPOSE OF POSITION

  • To provide the leadership to the site based Commercial and Industrial Field Teams and ensure that the

organisation is structured optimally from an operational perspective to deliver on customer and SLA requirements.

In addition, the leader is expected to build technical capacity and capability in line with the Strategic Plan, the

Budget and Policy Deployment in terms of customer satisfaction, service delivery and operational financial

performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overall responsible for HSSE and Compliance; to ensure an incident and injury- free workplace and

compliance towards Mining customer policies, Vontier/GVR policies and all relevant laws and legislations.

  • Owner of strategic initiatives related to operational teams in the region.
  • Ensure all technicians and sub-contractors are adequately trained on all Gilbarco AFS products and HSSE

requirements and that regular training session, and at least bi-monthly technical meetings and/or toolbox talks,

are convened.

  • Responsibility for budget & forecast cost performance for the Service operations team.
  • Co-operate with Mining sales team and COE to drive and deliver profitable growth through delivering upgrade

opportunities on current business.

  • Drive lean transformation of the operation to improve Safety, Quality, Delivery & Cost within the Service &

Installation value stream.

  • Build and secure quality in teams and service processes to attain or exceed contracted SLA levels, equipment

downtime 3hr/ machine/ month and achieve First-Time-Fix > 95%

  • Optimize service productivity in all departments to increase Jobs per person per day and technician utilization.
  • Manage and grow high performing technical capacity and capability to support the Africa Region, with focus

on HSSE, Quality, On-time-Delivery and Cost control to optimize customer experience and profitability.

  • Make sure that the teams embrace and actively use the full range of VBS’s tools to secure full control of all

business KPI`s through daily management.

  • Build team to deliver market leading performance in the South African and global market in line with current

business needs and strategic plan objectives.

  • Mining VAN Stock, Quotes, Open Deliveries, Account Receivables and related working capital administration.

DELEGATION OF AUTHORITY

  • As per Board-approved DOA and as necessary for functions outside the DOA.
  • As delegated by the Managing Director, when necessary.

POSITION RELATIONSHIPS

Internal

  • Needs to report key issues and corrective

actions to the Sales Team Mining, DDS and

CEO teams of Gilbarco AFS as deemed

necessary.

  • Needs to work closely with peers, and

specifically the Head of HR and the Mining HR

manager, Engineering, DDS, COE, regional

sales manager, Finance Director and the local

Business Leaders to execute the strategic

plan, budget and policy deployment (PD)

requirements of the business.

  • Needs to develop a strong working

relationship with all direct reports and ensure

that business performance is reviewed

regularly on a data-driven basis with

corrective actions and countermeasures

initiated as required.

External

  • Needs to be highly customer focused, and able to

form effective working relationships with key

customers and suppliers E.g. Suppliers, Distributers

and Contractors.

MEASURES OF PERFORMANCE

Leading Indicators

  • Zero Loss Time incidences (LTI), 100% near miss / potential incidences with implemented corrective action within x

days, 100% employee participation in NM / PI reporting

  • Service (Installation and Project) profitability to meet budget target
  • Deliver budgeted upgrade sales target in conjunction with sales team
  • Drive continuous productivity level improvements measured by completed jobs per man per day
  • Operational costs at or below forecast/budget targets on a monthly basis, with countermeasures implemented to

reduce costs when targets are missed.

  • Chargeable Service and Installation Run-Rate revenues at or above targets on a monthly basis.
  • Working Capital improvements, with a YOY improvement > +1.0 turns (weighted).
  • Meet / exceed all customer contracted reporting and KPI Matrix.

Lagging Indicators

  • Overall SLA at >95% on a continuous basis.
  • First-Time-Fix at >95% on a continuous basis.
  • Customer Satisfaction Index >95%
  • Zero Odo Stills and RNFs
  • OTD > 96%
  • Productivity > 80%
  • Run Rate Revenue Targets
  • Direct Margin in line with budget.
  • 100% contract increases timeously within agreed margins with the pricing committee
  • Open Deliveries maintained at R150,000 or less

Personal Qualifications & Experience

Education/

achievements

  • Degree in general management, commerce

or mining will be an advantage.

  • Computer Science or MBA
  • Six Sigma or Lean experience

Experience/

Knowledge

  • 5 Year Technical and Managerial experience

with Gilbarco AFS products and solutions or

similar

  • Field Service and Operational management,
  • Customer Service Delivery.
  • Specific Skills People Manager with Financial and P&L
  • Management, Contract Management skills
  • Customer Service Delivery Management

Potential Skills

  • DDS and COE experience due to high

dependency between the divisions

  • Contract Management Capabilities
