About The Role
We are looking for a Professionally Registered Civil Engineer to join the Land Infrastructure team based in Cape Town. The successful candidate will play an integral role in providing quality design solutions whilst continuously developing our design capability and digital eminence.
In this position you will lead the Wet Services team and be responsible for technical delivery, line management and team performance. The role will require a strong focus on technical delivery in the wet utilities realm which includes the water, sewer, irrigation, and stormwater disciplines.
With the team’s focus on infrastructure projects in the Middle Eastern region, we are actively recruiting for those passionate about working collaboratively in an engaging, flexible, and creative manner with multi-disciplinary teams in the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The incumbent will have a strong design background and provide innovative design solutions through a safe systems design approach and demonstrate a genuine interest in making a difference in our business, to the wider community and providing a winning service to our clients.
You will deploy your skills in a digital environment containing diverse analysis and modelling and computational software and continuously strive to improve the technical and modelling ability of the team.

Role responsibilities:
- Lead complex designs of water, sewage and stormwater infrastructure systems which includes:
- Water transmission and distribution system design inclusive of storage and pumping system (potable, fire, and irrigation).
- Sewage conveyance systems including network and pump station design.
- Stormwater management and conveyance systems.
- Drive the delivery of 3D modelling as well as multidisciplinary utility infrastructure coordination on projects.
- Oversee the production of other key project deliverables such as technical reports, specifications, and tender documentation.
- Be responsible for line management which include tasks such as performance management, workload management, task delegation and team mentoring.
- Coordinate with in-country local authority liaisons to obtain approvals and interface with the wider Zutari infrastructure and MEP teams, architects, master planners and other stakeholders.
- Support business development activities and assist in preparing and coordinating tenders/bids and contribute to winning work initiatives.
- Establish a clear understanding of project goals and stakeholder expectations, specifically managing client expectations and ensuring that delivery meets expectations.
- B Sc/B Eng. Degree or B Tech in Civil Engineering.
- Pr Eng or Pr Tech registered with ECSA with 5 years’ post-registration
- Minimum of 10 years overall experience in stormwater and wet utilities design
- Strong design experience and demonstrated history of leading design teams.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil3D, Revit and/or Bentley or and associated discipline specific design software.
- Experience of MS Office Suite of Programmes, SharePoint, ProjectWise, etc.
- Working knowledge of BIM processes.
