Purpose Of The Role
To lead a team of Developers on technical projects to ensure that quality and delivery is enforced, through code interventions and policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Full Stack Development Leadership. Lead a team of Developers skilled in various programming languages and drive the development of robust, secure, scalable applications across web, API, and backend layers.
- Project and Delivery Management. Plan, coordinate, and execute development activities across multiple concurrent projects.
- System Design and Architecture. Collaborate with Solution Architects and Business Analysts to design future-proof, compliant solutions.
- Engage with stakeholders to ensure alignment and support with projects and assist the Developer team to collaborate effectively.
- Represent the Developer team in architecture review boards and contribute to platform and integration strategies.
- Agile and DevOps Integration. Drive agile practices and work closely with DevOps teams to integrate CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment workflows.
- Incident and Change Management. Manage incidents and changes to minimize disruption and ensure smooth operations.
- Stay current with emerging technologies to ensure the team is leveraging the latest tools and practices.
- Ensure customer service solutions align with the business operational plan, organisational values, and service standards.
- Communicate customer service solutions effectively to secure buy-in.
- Analyse customer feedback to improve service and propose ideas for enhancement.
- Support the team and act as a bridge between the Developer Manager and the team.
- Liaise with the Product owner to ensure all deliverables are met.
- Lead the team by assigning tasks accordingly and provide input in code reviews and ensure the delivery of high-quality software.
- Qualification: A relevant bachelor’s degree in BCom, B.Eng., BSC Eng, BSc Information or IT related degree
- Experience: A minimum of 5 - 8 years' proven experience as a Lead Developer or similar role
- A minimum of 5 - 8 years' experience in programming
- Solid experience in stakeholder management and collaboration across multiple teams is essential.
- A strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns and best practices
- Experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, Azure, Pipelines and Octopus systems will be advantageous
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
