Hello… an exciting new opportunity has just become available in our Insure, Operations area. We are looking to recruit a Regional Motor Manager.

Role Objectives

The role function for Regional Motor Manager is the end-to-end ownership of the following functions that reside wide of the claim’s operational structures: These functions play a role in supporting business imperatives of reaching and sustaining a sub 50 earned Motor Loss Ratio. GWP on Motor is approximately R4.5 billion and motor repair claims paid R1.67 billion per annum. This functional area has a direct contribution on the annual claims spend. The role of purpose of this functionality is to expand on current capabilities in play, through innovative opportunities, ensure execution of key initiatives and leverage off key current operational competencies.

Key Responsibilities

The Regional Motor Manager is responsible for:

  • Management of Hollard’s Motor Vehicle Assessing capability
  • Align with Hollard Insure’s Strategic vision to have a sustainable Motor Loss Ratio below 60%.
  • On-board and monitor Internal and External Assessor’s alignment to Hollard’s Motor Assessing Philosophy, Procedures and Protocols that cover the requirements of fulfilling cost containment, service delivery, transformation, and governance objectives within the business.
  • Follow through with Audatex system operations such as networking, Auda-Mail, Auda-Audit, Auda-VIN, partial repairs, coding on painting allowances for repairs and plastic components, ID blocks are correctly populated and the appointment process of the motor body repairer is performed, ensuring the correct SLA labour and paint rates are applied.
  • Execute on philosophies related to repair over replace and follow the negotiation guidelines set out on how to appropriately set-up and follow through with these discussions with the repairer.
  • Formulate suitable key performance indicators assigned to the job designations that fall under Regional Motor Managers and Internal/ External Motor Assessors.
  • Utilise the management information capabilities to track, monitor and analyse performance outcomes, interpreting whether these align to targeted expectations.
  • Understand internal and external market trends on assessing performance outcomes. Leverage off the data system provider Audatex holds in performing Industry Benchmarking analyses.
  • Formulate data samples for quality assurance audit purposes on authorised claims, work in progress inspections, or final repair calculation outcomes. Coordinate daily quality assurance forums between the Quality Assurance team and Regional Motor Managers.
  • Monitor and implement corrective action where assessors divulge from expected processes, such as submitting their pre-authorised and work in progress assessments for parts sourcing.
  • Motor Assessors to perform Final Repair Calculations on the required mandate and Regional Motor Managers to process the cases that fall within their mandate.
  • Ensure assessing Quality Assurance governance measures are applied by Regional Motor Managers and Motor Assessors, where correct philosophies are upheld at first point of inspecting the vehicle and establishing repair quantum. Appropriate work in progress inspections is done on the vehicle at the repairer, monitoring cost influences associated to Additionals being submitted by the repairer and repair progress from a vehicle hire and customer satisfaction perspective. Perform financial audits at motor body repairers, ensuring processes related to final repair calculations are adhered to by motor body repairers and assessors.
  • Following quality assurance audit exercises, create a sample of cases where the original appointed assessor on the claim is instructed to perform a post repair inspection on the vehicle.
  • Ensure Assessors adhere to the SAIA Code of Salvage requirements for vehicle coding of write-offs.
  • Make use of the Hollard Dynamic Salvage Model (DSM) to correctly quantify whether it is financially suitable to proceed with a vehicle repair or deem the vehicle uneconomical to repair.
  • Formulate a formal Manco reporting structure where each functional area in Assessing reports on performances related to cost containment, service delivery, transformation, and governance objectives.
  • Set-up and host quarterly Assessing Team Townhall Sessions.
