Role Description

This role is technical in nature and is responsible for providing high quality and timely network management support to ensure the availability, stability and performance of the datacentres, cloud platforms and corporate systems.

Organisational Design

This position is part of the CIO department and reports to the regional Head of Cloud Infrastructure Management

Specific Role Responsibilities

Design: Ensure that network environments are designed to best practice standards for resilience and availability to ensure the highest SLAs are maintained.

Availability: Ensure that uptime SLAs are met every month for networks that you are responsible for, by managing and resolving issue logs; performing scheduled maintenance to minimise disruption.

Performance: Ensure that performance SLAs are met every month for networks that you are responsible for by monitoring network performance, capacity and growth; suggesting and implementing performance improvements.

Information Security: Ensure that the network environments are internally and externally secure by following existing policies and procedures and documenting for audit purposes as required; implementing security controls and remediations; completing risk assessments and build guides for new and existing systems.

Business Continuity: Ensure that network environments are secure and backed up by ensuring that regular backups are made and are tested. Participate in yearly BCP & DR tests. Ensure that network management is in line with company requirements and departmental policy for resilience and availability. DocumentDocument and keep solution design, business continuity plan and standard operating processs documents up-to-date.

Training: Develop professional and technical knowledge and skills. Provide technical advice and mentoring within the team.

Project Work: Implement new projects to meet project timelines. Work in a matrix structure with multi-national teams.

Budget: Recommend changes that could reduce costs in your areas of responsibility.

Experience Required

  • Degree qualified or equivalent industry certifications and relevant experience
  • CCNP certifications and F5 XC will be advantageous

Network Management Related To

  • 5 years operations experience supporting campus networks, data center LAN and firewalls
  • Experience with building and supporting Cloud networking
  • Familiarity with network types including Cloud, LAN, WAN, WLAN, SAN, and VoIP networks
  • Subnetting and routing protocols
  • Network redundancy, Load Balancing, BGP
  • Network security best-practices and standards
  • Network access control technologies
  • IP telephony support and optimization
  • Network management tools for logging, monitoring, configuration management, AAA
  • Network discovery and documentation
  • Network performance optimization
  • Network device software patching and upgrades
  • Virtual private networks
  • Network hardening controls
  • Networking on hypervisors such as VMware
  • Transport layer encryption protocols
