Role reports to- Head of Procurement EMEA-LATAM

Location- Cape Town, South Africa

Job Type- full-time, temporary for 18 months

Travel %- 40%

What You Will Do

The Senior Procurement Manager - AMET is an exceptional opportunity for a highly skilled and driven procurement professional who is adept at connecting dots and working as a self-starter. This role requires a strategic thinker who can oversee procurement activities in the AMET Cluster, working closely with the Cluster Leadership Team to drive operational efficiencies, transformative strategies, and industry best practices. The Senior Manager will also play a crucial role in connecting Cluster Business Teams with regional and global Category Procurement teams to ensure alignment of initiatives and programs. Additionally, this role will frequently punch above its weight in terms of hierarchy, requiring exceptional influencing skills to achieve objectives and make an impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies and policies for the AMET region in alignment with global and regional procurement and business goals and objectives
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify cost-saving opportunities and implement best practices
  • Negotiate contracts with suppliers to ensure favorable terms and conditions
  • Monitor market trends and supplier performance to identify potential risks and opportunities to bring the outside in
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Continuously evaluate and improve procurement processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness
  • Co-own the indirect spend budget with the Cluster Leadership team to ensure financial targets are met
  • Communicate key market trends and cost development as well as the innovation and best practices to stakeholders in order to drive strategic decision making
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with vendors to ensure product, service and quality standards are met

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8-10 years of related experience in procurement or supply chain management
  • University/Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in business, supply chain management or related field
  • Strong understanding of purchasing policies, procedures and performance standards
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and owner’s mindset

  • Proven track record of developing and executing procurement strategies that deliver cost savings and improve supplier performance
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire others
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams of different hierarchical levels and build strong relationships with suppliers
  • Excellent budget management and cost control skills
  • Ability to analyze market trends and pricing to make informed decisions
