Calibration Technician

Department : ME & Maintenance (BP55200)

Reporting to: Maintenance Engineer

The main purpose of the job.

This position will be responsible to investigate, diagnose and perform trade related maintenance, repairs and calibrations on production tools & equipment according to the production requirements. organization overall.

Responsibilities And Duties

  • Together with Maintenance Engineer, assists in creation of a calibration plan for all production and measurement equipment.
  • Ensures calibration equipment and master samples are kept compliant and sent for calibration as per created plan.
  • Together with Maintenance Engineer, plans and sends equipment for external calibration.
  • Issues production (excluding hand tools), measurement tools, and keep records thereof.
  • Creates and keeps all calibration records and able to retrieve them as and when required.
  • Ensure that the service and calibration plan is strictly adhered to as per due date.
  • Ensure that the Calibration bench data or other calibration device is aligned with the tools register per station
  • Ensure that the station tool register is constantly kept up to date i.e (When issuing tools or removing tool etc)
  • Continuously monitors performance of tools on toolsnet and compile weekly reports on performance. Function will be required upon completion of training.
  • Recommends tools for repair or condemnation and raise purchase orders.
  • Measure, compile, and record data from each piece of tightening equipment subject to calibration.
  • Conduct process audits as per MEM requirement for metrology department.
  • Record daily tool issues and man hours required to resolve. This record to be shared daily to ME team by means of shift report.
  • Fully support the Quality Assurance Process by building quality into all aspects of the job and by maintaining compliance to all quality requirements (including but not limited to being up to date on all training requirements for the job position and documenting that training).
  • Adapt existing calibration equipment, standards, and techniques to accomplish unique measurement tasks.
  • Supports problem solving forums by compiling and submitting EWO, RNC, SOP.
  • Maintain company compliance with external specifications, standards, & regulations by evaluation of current procedures and practices.
  • Performs adhoc duties When required by ME & MEM Manager.
  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis to drive continuous improvement in the area.
  • Attend X-Functional meetings as required.
  • Secure adherence to UD Production System way of working.
  • Support and promote the implementation of 5S in the calibration area and maintain proper organization.
  • Promote a safety conscious way of working.
  • Ensure that all incidents are filled out on the IR forms.

Improvements

  • Investigate & Implement tool/machine improvements in order to maintain/improve quality and production output
  • Introduce quick and standard Kaizens
  • Proactively engage with operators to introduce Kaizens
  • Pursue energy saving initiatives
  • Provide input into Spares requirements for the Business unit.

Business Unit

  • Give full support to all other business unit partners.
  • Clear and open communication.
  • Teamwork
  • Active Participation in Problem Solving.
  • Communicate deviations encountered to ME for production and process improvement.
  • Attends a Handover meeting with other Artisan, Team Leader/Section Engineer and prioritizes work to be done.
  • Perform other duties given by the Maintenance Engineer that is within the department.

Minimum Qualifications

  • N6 or National Diploma in Mechanical/Industrial/Electrical/ Mechatronics Engineering Electrical
  • Amic Level 4 and/or Technical Qualification will be added advantage.
  • Experience as a Maintenance Technician will be added advantage.
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft office product (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
