The FIX Implementation Specialist is a subject matter expert in the Financial Information Exchange (FIX) protocol, responsible for configuring, certifying, and supporting FIX-hosted solutions for local and international institutions and brokers. Success in this role involves delivering tailored software solutions, resolving technical issues efficiently, and collaborating closely with both clients and internal teams.

Some of the awesome things you’ll be involved with:

  • Configure, certify, and implement FIX solutions for new client connections.
  • Provide expert-level post-implementation support and troubleshooting.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for complex implementation or support queries.
  • Monitor and manage production environments, ensuring system stability and adherence to best practices.
  • Collaborate with product development, support, and sales teams to ensure successful solution delivery.
  • Maintain clear, consistent communication with stakeholders using prescribed tools and processes.
  • Produce and maintain documentation for implementations and configurations.
  • Mentor colleagues and contribute to team knowledge sharing.
  • Drive client adoption and usage through structured change management processes.
  • Participate in severity 1 and 2 incident responses as part of a collaborative team effort.
  • Proactively increase and share product and market knowledge relevant to the role.

What You Will Bring

Qualifications and Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Finance, or a related field (preferred)
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in software implementation, preferably in the fintech or trading/market data industry (required)
  • Strong knowledge of trading platforms, market data systems, and related technologies (preferred).
  • Industry specific Certifications (preferred)

  • Software Configuration: Configure software applications according to client requirements and ensure alignment with best practices.
  • Stakeholder Relationship Management: Manage stakeholder relationships, ensuring that communication is clear, consistent, and aligned with project goals.
  • Problem Management: Provide expert-level troubleshooting and resolution of complex issues, ensuring minimal disruption to client operations.
  • Detail Orientation: Exhibit a strong attention to detail, particularly in managing production environments and documenting solutions.
  • Client Focus: Demonstrate a commitment to understanding client needs and delivering solutions that meet or exceed expectations.
  • Collaboration: Work effectively with cross-functional teams to achieve common goals.
  • Adaptability: Respond well to changing circumstances and is flexible in approach to problem-solving and project management.

Specialised Capabilities

  • Proficiency in XML for data structuring, integration, and transformation within technical implementation environments.
  • Proficient in Windows Server and Microsoft SQL, or equivalent relational database platforms
  • Experience with common integration standards and tools, including Web Services, SWIFT, and MSMQ
  • Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle, system architecture, and deployment methodologies
  • Ability to develop simple utilities or scripts to support integration (advantageous)
  • Working knowledge of the FIX protocol and its application in financial systems
  • A solid understanding of database administration tasks including basic SQL querying, backups, and restores
  • Familiarity with networking tools and protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, Netstat, Telnet, Ping, Trace Processor, Wireshark)
