Open Box Software is looking for a 1st line engineer to join our Infrastructure team based in Cape Town.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and support workstations.
  • Administer and process end-user onboarding and offboarding.
  • Set up and configure workstations, printers, and peripherals.
  • Perform regular operational maintenance and updates on IT systems.
  • Support Microsoft 365, Windows OS, and basic networking.
  • Manage logged calls promptly.
  • Resolve hardware, software, and network issues in a timely manner.
  • Escalate complex issues to second or third-line support when necessary.
  • Accurately record issues and solutions in the ticketing system.
  • Guide users on best practices and IT policies.
  • Participate in rotational support shifts (one week per month).


Desirable Experience

  • One year of ICT experience, ideally within the Windows desktop support environment.
  • Solid understanding of networking principles, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and Wi-Fi troubleshooting.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication capabilities.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Client-focused approach with proactive issue resolution.
  • Dedicated to ongoing learning and remaining up to date with technological advancements.


Desirable Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree / National Diploma in IT (preferred, not required).
  • Microsoft Fundamentals and Intermediate courses: Azure and 365.
  • CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+ certifications.
  • Valid driving license and car required.
