Role Purpose

To assess new business applications and provide accurate underwriting decisions in line with the Scheme’s underwriting guidelines.

Requirements

• Grade 12/Matric
• 1-2 years underwriting experience
• Health underwriting experience an advantage
  
  

Duties and Responsibilities

• Making accurate individual underwriting decisions for new applicants and additional dependents applying to join Momentum Medical Scheme by applying:
• The Medical Schemes Act (legislation);
• The Momentum Medical Scheme underwriting policy;
• Standards, protocols and guidelines set
• Liaising with brokers, applicants, members and doctors where applicable with regards to underwriting decisions made either telephonically, in writing or in person as required
• Effectively resolving any queries received and identifying trends and training gaps
• Driving and supporting effective departmental team work

• Maintain a broad product, legislation and standards/protocols knowledge in order to effectively and accurately perform the role of an underwriter
• Adhere to organisational best practice and legislative requirements
• Identify risks to the company and escalate accordingly
• Maintain a consistent service delivery to ensure client retention and satisfaction
• Engage in appropriate training interventions to promote own professional development
