As a Senior Server Engineer you’ll be supporting and leading complex infrastructure projects, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and serve as a technical expert for resolving high-level server issues, e.g. Deployments and architectural design of new datacentres (designing, deploying, and maintaining server systems that are critical to the organisation's operations, ensuring security and the implementation of best practices for scalability and reliability), use your technical knowledge and troubleshooting to optimize our compute and storage environments & develop automation tasks that would assist the Team and larger Infrastructure space. This will help us excel at supporting the tech space as well as the larger business to stay ahead of the game.

What You’ll Be Doing
As part of your role, your responsibilities will include:
- Server Design and Deployment
- Responsible for the architecture and implementation of the server systems
- Ensure scalability and flexibility to meet current and future demands
- Virtualisation Management
- Oversee the management and optimisation of virtual server environments
- VMware, Hyper-V, Nutanix and other virtualisation technologies
- Management of the storage platforms and ensuring optimal functionality for our SAN Fabric environment
- System Performance and Optimisation
- Monitor server performance and fine-tune configurations to enhance system efficiency
- Proactively identify potential bottlenecks and implement improvements
- Security and Compliance
- Implement server security measures such as firewalls, encryption, and access control
- Ensure all server systems comply with industry regulations and organisational security policies
- Knowledgeable on the ISO27001 & SOX404 compliancy standards for the Infrastructure technology space
- Automation and Scripting
- Automate routine server management tasks using scripting languages such as PowerShell and Bash
- Design and implement automation scripts to enhance operational efficiency
- Technology Evaluation and Innovation
- Stay updated on emerging server technologies and recommend new solutions to enhance the server infrastructure
- Lead efforts in adopting cutting-edge server technologies to improve operational efficiency
Essential Skills You’ll Bring To The Table
The necessary skills that we require for this role include:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and effectively
- Experience working collaboratively in cross-functional teams, with a focus on achieving shared goals
- Expertise in managing multiple projects simultaneously, with a track record of delivering on time and within scope
- Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring high standards of quality in all outputs
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing environments and priorities, maintaining effectiveness in dynamic situations
- Proficiency in Automation & Scripting languages (Powershell, Terraform, Ansible)
- Knowledge of PKI Infrastructure – Certificate Services and operations
- Effective management of Monitoring systems (Zabbix, Nagios, PRTG, Datadog etc)
- Strong knowledge of Hypervisor management & Deployment (VMWare & HyperV operations)
- Troubleshooting and management of Mail-flow operations (Exchange, SMTP Server services, O365)
- Management of Azure Infrastructure & services (Identity management, VDI, VM Management, App reg & Ent. Apps)
- Working & Troubleshooting knowledge of Linux Operating systems
- Storage management and implementation
- Installation, management and maintenance of SAN Fabrics and zoning methodologies
- Incident Management & Troubleshooting - Strong troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve complex server-related issues efficiently, minimizing downtime.
It would be great if you also have some of the following skills:
- Cloud Platforms - Proficiency in managing cloud-based servers and hybrid environments, including deployment, scaling, and cost optimisation.
- Backup & Disaster Recovery (DR) - Experience in implementing and managing backup solutions and disaster recovery plans to ensure data integrity and business continuity
- Load Balancing & High Availability (HA) - Experience in implementing load balancing and high availability solutions to ensure server uptime and optimize resource use
- Project Management - Competency in managing server-related projects, including upgrades and migrations, from inception to completion.
- ISO27001 & SOX404 Compliancy understanding and technical expertise in the management of the compliancy standard
