About the job Tax Compliance Manager(External Applications Only)
Responsible for the co-ordination and management of all tax matters that relate to entities within the Cashbuild Group as well as identifying and implementing tax processes and solutions according to regulatory and governance standards.
Requirement
Tax queries & audits
Investigate, understand and seek expert advice if necessary to ensure that any tax related risks are addressed;
Management and resolution of all tax related queries;
Pro-actively manage and pursue tax refunds.
Management of all taxes, payments and returns
Review all tax type calculations and returns. Ensure returns are submitted, stamped and paid timeously;
Review and ensure taxes are correctly calculated in terms of the relevant countries tax legislation;
Ensure tax calculations and returns are prepared accurately and timeously;
Ensure all tax related payments and proof of payments are obtained on the day the payment is due.
Transfer Pricing policy
Maintain and police the Group’s transfer pricing policy;
Prepare country transfer pricing documentation;
Finalise the annual Transfer pricing pack.
Tax process improvements
Identify needs for process improvements and application of tax processes best suited for the company using existing technology and if necessary the implementation of new technology;
Pro-active review of processed transactions and standard operating procedures to identify tax risks or improvement areas.
Tax Advice
To act as a business partner identifying tax issues or opportunities that have strategic financial impact or that impacts the business’s license to trade, providing commentary and recommendations to optimise the tax position of the local and regional businesses;
Ensure tax-efficient structures within the business to accommodate acquisitions and reorganisations, including preparing or reviewing financial models and reviewing legal agreements to affect these transactions.
Management of Tax Risk
To manage tax value and tax risk in the business through the delivery of specialist technical tax advice and decision support;
Identify tax risks and opportunities across other tax service lines – transfer pricing, VAT, payroll, international tax, transaction tax;
Advise and educate department heads in finance of identified tax risks.
Relationships with relevant tax authority representatives
Primary contact with relevant tax authorities and regulators;
Maintain good relationships with relevant tax authority representatives;
Resolve queries / claims within agreed timeframes.
Income Tax treatment and updates
Ensure rates and treatments are according to latest Statutory requirements;
Remain abreast with tax updates and assess what changes impact the Cashbuild Group;
Identify which areas within the business are affected, assess, discuss with line manager, and communicate to the relevant department head the change and ensure that the business has applied these to their areas correctly.
Ad hoc tax related projects
Management and finalization with ad hoc tax related projects.
Competent and motivated employees
Manage staff to ensure their areas of responsibilities are performed timeously, complete and accurately;
Manage staff to ensure that their competence and motivation are at the required levels.

Requirement
- Minimum postgraduate qualification in tax
- Preference for CA(SA) with one year post articles, Masters in Tax / M Com (Taxation) / LLM (Taxation)
- At least 3 - 5 years of corporate and& international tax experience within a corporate environment across various African countries
- Excellent knowledge of tax accounting, tax compliance and all types of tax returns
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Deadline driven and dynamic
- Must be able to work under pressure
- Must have attention to detail
- Ability to work independently
