Job Description
This multidisciplinary role within ENERTRAG's International Business Development unit involves collaborating across our global teams to develop a diverse portfolio of renewable energy and Power-to-X (PtX) projects. The role spans the entire development lifecycle, from opportunity identification and lead generation, through to project delivery. This dynamic position demands a versatile individual with diverse skillsets, capable of quickly synthesizing complex problems into actionable solutions.

Job Description
This multidisciplinary role within ENERTRAG's International Business Development unit involves collaborating across our global teams to develop a diverse portfolio of renewable energy and Power-to-X (PtX) projects. The role spans the entire development lifecycle, from opportunity identification and lead generation, through to project delivery. This dynamic position demands a versatile individual with diverse skillsets, capable of quickly synthesizing complex problems into actionable solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Market Research and Opportunity Identification
- Conduct and support the broader business development team with in-depth analysis of international renewable energy and PtX markets to identify viable project opportunities, focusing on regions with high wind, solar, or hydrogen potential, aligning with ENERTRAG’s strategic goals and investment mandate
- Project Origination and Development
- Support the end-to-end development of wind, solar, and PtX projects, from early concept development, site selection to feasibility studies and execution. Scope will cover supporting the existing portfolio of ENERTRAG projects and initiating new projects in line with the company strategy
- Stakeholder Engagement and Relationships
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including governments, utilities, regulators, local communities, OEMs, EPCs, and off-takers, to secure support and partnerships for ENERTRAG’s projects in diverse international markets
- Contract Negotiation and Deal Structuring
- Directly lead and support the broader team with negotiating critical agreements such as Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), land leases, development agreements, EPC contracts, and NDAs. The role will be more heavily focussed on the commercial terms and bankability risk management of key contracts
- Financial Structuring and Funding Acquisition
- Directly support the financial modelling teams in model development to accurately show commercial returns profiles and secure funding from investors, banks, or public programs for projects
- Regulatory and Policy Compliance
- Work closely with ENERTRAG legal, certification and offtake teams, to navigate complex international regulations, environmental laws, and PtX/RE-specific policies to ensure project compliance, keeping abreast of fast-evolving renewable energy legislation
- Proposal and Bid Preparation
- Prepare and present compelling proposals, bids, and due diligence reports for renewable energy and PtX projects to win contracts, government tenders, inform key stakeholders and secure funding for projects
- Cross-Functional Team Coordination
- Collaborate with ENERTRAG’s engineering, legal, systems optimisation, certification, commercial and finance teams to align project development with technical, legal, and financial requirements, ensuring seamless execution of projects
- Brand Visibility and Market Expansion
- Enhance ENERTRAG’s brand presence in new and existing geographies through targeted promotion, lobbying, and networking, positioning the company as a leader in sustainable energy solutions. This may include participation in conferences, roundtables, speaking engagements and media interviews
- Risk Management and Due Diligence
- Conduct commercial and technical due diligence to mitigate risks related to market volatility, policy changes, or project execution, ensuring the stability of ENERTRAG’s international protfolio. Constant monitoring and adherence to the ENERTRAG internal risk management procedures and policies is required throughout all work
- Reporting and Strategic Planning
- Provide regular updates to ENERTRAG’s leadership on project progress, market developments, and strategic opportunities, contributing to the company’s global growth strategy in renewables and PtX

Expertise / Experience
- Market Analysis:Experience in assessing markets, identify trends, and evaluate opportunities for project development
- Project Development:Experience in managing the development process of projects from concept level through to execution
- Financial Acumen:Proficiency in financial modelling, budgeting, and analysing project economics to secure funding or investment
- Stakeholder Engagement:Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with clients, government, utilities, and investors
- Sales and Negotiation:Ability to pitch analysis and solutions, negotiate contracts, and close deals
- Regulatory Knowledge:Familiarity with relevant policies, incentives, and compliance requirements at local, provincial, and national levels
- Technical:Basic knowledge of relevant energy technologies, system design, integration and the ability to effectively communicate with technical teams
- Proposal Development:Skills in drafting compelling proposals, RFPs, and presentations to secure projects or partnerships
- Communication:Excellent verbal and written communication for presenting ideas, reporting progress, and coordinating with cross-functional teams
- Project Management:Competence in overseeing timelines, resources, and deliverables to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget
- Team Collaboration:Ability to work effectively with a broad range of different technical teams and other departments to drive project success
