Job Summary        

To critically analyse and report on client specific data, consult with clients regarding medicine expenditure, benefit design and industry trends.


Key Performance Areas:

Reporting & Data Analysis

  • Collect, clean, analyse, and visualise data from multiple sources using advanced Excel and Business Intelligence (BI) tools to extract insights and support data-driven decision-making.
  • Develop client-specific reports on medicine utilisation, expenditure and services in line with Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and other contractual requirements.
  • Review and validate reports prior to client distribution to ensure accuracy and quality.
  • Compile and communicate internal reports and analytics to support strategic business decisions.
  • Generate ad hoc reports in response to specific client requests, ensuring timely and relevant delivery.


Analysis & Consultation

  • Collaborate with internal departments to provide data-driven recommendations and best practice solutions tailored to client needs.
  • Deliver training sessions on BI tools and data analysis platforms to both internal teams and external clients.
  • Compile and present analytical findings on medicine utilisation and expenditure, as well as benefit design recommendations to clients, aligning with their marketing and financial strategies and industry benchmarks.
  • Offer clinical interpretation and support to colleagues for report development and client presentations.

Research & Development

  • Contribute to the annual industry publication, Mediscor Medicines Review, through co-authoring, editing, auditing, and graphic support to enhance brand visibility.
  • Analyse data and provide insights to the Pharmaceutics and Therapeutics Committee (PTC) to inform funding decisions.
  • Participate in industry forums to stay informed on clinical advancements, emerging industry trends, and legislative frameworks, ensuring the application of best practices within the organisation.
  • Support the technical development of internal systems to improve the efficiency and standardisation of reporting processes.



Qualifications and Experience

  • BPharm
  • Registered with the SA Pharmacy Council.
  • Advantageous: Masters in relevant field
  • Proven experience working with data across various formats and platforms or have a relevant qualification in a data-related field. The candidate should be able to confidently use data in reporting.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in the health care, medical aid industry or research.
  • Microsoft Office with Excel Advanced.


Knowledge and Attributes

  • Strong ability to interpret, manage, and utilize data effectively for reporting and analytical purposes.
  • Proficient in working with Business Intelligence (BI) tools and models, such as Qlik Sense.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and confidently.
  • Proven ability to manage deadlines and client expectations in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong conflict resolution skills and effective time management capabilities.
  • Highly analytical and detail-oriented, with the ability to draw meaningful conclusions from data.
  • Solid understanding of clinical concepts and the healthcare industry, with the ability to apply this knowledge in data analysis.
  • Self-motivated and capable of using initiative within the scope of responsibilities.
