Job Description,

  • (External Distribution) ED Regulatory compliance - to devise, manage and execute a comprehensive process that ensures that ED meets all of its compliance and regulatory commitments and obligations, working in liaison and cooperation with PPS Group Legal and Compliance, as well as with the FSCA and other stakeholders concerning FAIS, POPIA and BBB-EE requirements.
  • ED Contracts with Intermediaries - to devise, manage and execute a process to ensure that the ED Intermediary contracting environment, documentation and processes with FSPs, IFAs and brokers/representatives is optimal for ED to achieve its objectives and goals.
  • Ensuring the Intermediary Product Accreditation policy is implemented by designing and managing processes to ensure this.
  • To facilitate the resolution of complaints from PPS members about ED Brokers, disputes between Brokers and complaints and disputes between PPS Group subsidiaries concerning brokers, by implementing the PPS complaint resolution procedures and protocols.
  • Providing ED Management with ad hoc operational and compliance advice and recommendations.
  • Manage the Insurance Policy Replacement protocols and ED experience and advise on steps to reduce replacements.
  • Devise plans and processes in order to ensure the re-intermediation of ED members who are orphans/without linked accredited brokers.
  • Participate in the Disaster Risk Management protocols & Business Continuity Plan, design and refresh annually
  • Actively participate in the development and execution of ED Strategy.

, Requirements,

Formal Qualifications

  • LLB degree or Honours level degree
  • Preferably also a Commercial/business qualification
  • CFP would be an advantage

Knowledge & Experience

  • Comprehensive experience in the Financial Services Industry and Life Assurance industry
  • Comprehensive expert knowledge of Financial Services Regulatory Environment
  • Expert Legislative Knowledge
  • General legislative knowledge
  • Minimum of 8 years of overall work experience with a Long term Insurance organisation or a role at a large corporate or a bank
  • Extensive experience working with financial services legislation for example LTIA, FAIS, FICA, etc.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading and being accountable for the implementation of legal and compliance requirements within ED.
  • Identify applicable legislation, provide comments, perform impact analysis and give advice and guidance to business.
  • Single point of contact between PPS Group Legal and Compliance
  • Update and revise Intermediary contracts, intermediary documents etc.
  • Complaints and disputes management for ED, including complaints received from members, Intermediaries and within the PPS Group that relate to ED
  • Liaising with key stakeholders on behalf of ED - FSCA, PA and other regulatory bodies when required
  • Functioning proactively and strategically with a holistic view on ED compliance
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Compliance Risk Management Methodology
  • Ability to write, communicate and interpret legislative requirement at the appropriate level
