SA - Group Head of Procurement

Summary of Role:
Reporting directly to the Group COO and indirectly to the COO South Africa, the key deliverables of the role are the creation and delivery of a procurement strategy for a multi-region business, including sourcing and procuring materials, equipment, and services for renewable energy projects.
The Group Head of Procurement will provide the leadership, management, and vision necessary to ensure that the company has the proper procurement controls, processes and procedures in place to effectively deliver Mainstream’s projects.
What you will do:
- Develop and execute procurement strategies to support renewable energy projects and the company as a whole (for example, IT procurement).
- Monitoring changes affecting supply and demand, tracking market conditions, and international price trends to determine the most effective strategy and a fair buying price
- Advising senior management and ExCo on best practice and innovative concepts to drive the business forward in its strategic priorities
- Analysing market trends and emerging technologies, and developing effective sourcing plans
- Provide strategic input on operational procurement
- Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, negotiate contracts, and manage supplier relationships
- Ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of materials, equipment, and services
- Monitor procurement activities, including purchase orders and delivery schedules
- Manage supplier performance and address any issues or concerns
What we require:
- Degree in Engineering, Energy, Business or Environment.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in procurement, with at least 5 of those at a senior level
- Renewable energy experience is advantageous, strong commercial experience and understanding is non-negotiable
- Managing different contract strategies and roll out is an important requirement
- Very strong negotiation and communication skills
- Knowledge of renewable energy technologies and industry trends, as well as regulations and standards within the industry
- Experience in managing supplier relationships and performance
- Procurement and contracts management
- Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Knowledge of BBBEE
