Training Specialist

Dermalogica is looking to recruit a training specialist to champion education that empowers therapists, fosters strong relationships with PST accounts, and supports sales growth. This role combines the expertise of a Training Specialist with delivery of exceptional in-person and in-store training through immersive education.
As a Dermalogica educator, you are an authentic company representative that delivers branded education in a variety of situations and to different audiences. Responsible for encompassing the brand code, you educate and inspire professional skin therapists and empower consumers. You demonstrate a personalized educational approach to all interactions you have. By show casing your advanced skin and product knowledge, expert skin therapy skills and brand enthusiasm, you positively contribute to Dermalogica's success.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Each of these points below are characteristic of the role but is not limited to what may be required:
- Conduct interactive workshops at our training facilities, Skin Centers, Partnership Colleges, and other locations.
- Support sales growth through in-salon hands-on training, event support and demonstrations.
- Maintain thorough knowledge and understanding of all products, treatments and concepts offered by Dermalogica. Proactively develops skills to maintain a high standard of educational delivery, regardless of audience or environment.
- Provide professional treatments to prospective accounts, social media influencers and press.
- Always represents Dermalogica to the highest standard and adheres to all safety, grooming and attire guidelines.
- Has impeccable time keeping, attendance reliability and ability to manage and prioritize individual schedule that meets the needs of the sales team, partnership college schools and the retail division whist taking into consideration costs and logistics.
- Proactively supports the education department and completes duties that contribute to the smooth running of the region, as per below and not limited to:
- Maintaining product kit inventory and cleanliness.
- Networking with students and accounts, promoting education and developing positive relationships.
- Conduct classes at the training facilities, colleges and other locations
- General administration and preparation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Training
- Conduct interactive workshops at our training facilities, Skin Centers, Partnership Colleges, and other locations.
- Deliver dynamic and interactive training sessions on Dermalogica’s advanced protocols, procedures, and pro product usage.
- Organise, prepare, plan and execute curated training sessions tailored to the audience, skills and channel.
- Execute and deliver Dermalogica's full training program across various platforms such as in-classroom; practical; live online training, pre-recorded demonstrations/talks, and in-store training.
- Deliver interactive activities, and present information in a way that captures participants’ attention
- Conduct research related to relevant, local topics, trends, new procedures, and ingredients that facilitate teaching of the Dermalogica curriculum.
- Perform case studies testing treatments, and product on local skin to ensure practical application and knowledge reinforce results and training.
- Deliver training at partnership colleges for qualifying college students, creating brand awareness and build brand love.
- Client Support & Relationship Management
- Develop strong relationships with nail technicians, front desk staff and qualified therapists to drive brand loyalty, customer satisfaction, and ongoing engagement.
- Active involvement in the successful execution of any marketing, retail or education events.
- Ensure consistent, regular contact with all Aesthetic Therapists to drive training attendance.
- Sales Support
- Support sales growth through in-salon hands-on training, event support and demonstrations.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of training and assess the impact on sales. Identify the gaps and implement training plan to drive sales growth.
- Collaborate with sales teams to identify, implement, and monitor bespoke training plans that support sales growth.
- Deliver demonstrations, education initiatives designed to drive treatment and product awareness for sales growth in selected doors.
- Support and execute events to drive sell out, brand awareness and growth.
- Ensure the brand consultants are confident in skin and product and treatment knowledge.
- Provide professional treatments to prospective accounts, social media influencers and press.
- Industry Expertise & Continuous Education
- Maintain thorough knowledge and understanding of all products, treatments and concepts offered by Dermalogica. Proactively develops skills to maintain a high standard of educational delivery, regardless of audience or environment.
- Stay informed on skincare trends, competitor products, and scientific advancements to ensure we stay competitive against local best practices, market related procedures, and competitors.
- Regularly participate in professional development opportunities, including training and education, to deepen knowledge.
- Participate in tradeshows, industry conferences, talks and events.
- Administrative
- Client Communication: Address education-related queries within 24 hours via phone or email. Ensure clear, professional verbal and written communication to convey information effectively and respond promptly to inquiries.
- Prepare, plan and study class material, presentations, and proposals, upholding Dermalogica standard of training and delivering of information.
- Complete monthly training reports and execute training strategies to ensure increased education touchpoints and training attendance target is achieved.
- Maintain attendance capacity through driving bookings to ensure capacity target for attendance is achieved.
- Collaborate with regional coordinators to prepare and submit weekly/monthly training reports.
- Inform the coordinator of any stock, consumables, or classroom maintenance needed to always maintain and uphold standard of training.

Qualifications:
- Qualification in skin care: NQF level 6, Somatology diploma or higher
- CIDESCO or ITEC qualification
- Advanced Dermal Aesthetics Diploma is an advantage
- Teachers Qualification/ Assessors/ Moderators diploma is an advantage
Experience required:
- Valid driver’s license and own car required.
- 3 years or more industry-related experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required
- 2 years teaching/lecturing or training experience is an advantage
- Strong facilitation and presentation skills
- In-depth knowledge of skin histology, industry-related topics including trends, treatments and procedures.
- Digital and social media Proficiency

Maintains a courteous demeanour under pressure, upholds confidentiality, and ensures smooth operations by proactively addressing details such as preparing for lessons, training sessions, or presentations, and ensuring class materials meet brand standards. Problem solving
Problem-solving skills, including resolving minor logistical, or team-related issues. These include reporting any issues like classroom maintenance and setup, laptop, projector, screen or sound, catering, and any other logistical or technical requirements. Quickly identify issues or challenges and report it to the coordinator and line manager so that immediate action and solutions are implemented.
Role specific skills:
Proven experience in fast-paced environments with adaptability to shifting priorities.
Proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel skills for teaching, expense tracking and reporting. Success in the role requires reliability, proactive problem-solving, time management, and a collaborative spirit to handle challenges and balance stakeholder needs efficiently. Expertise in the subject matter ensures that the content is accurate and valuable.
Organization/project responsibility
Work closely with the sales, marketing, and operational teams to support organisational projects, like product launch, campaigns, mystery shoppers, and new treatment launches.
Work Environment:
The work environment for a Training Specialist is dynamic, collaborative, and fast-paced. Typically work in dedicated training facilities, conducting in-person or virtual sessions. Travel may be required for on-site training, conferences, or product launches. Training Specialists use various digital tools, such as learning management systems, video conferencing software, and presentation platforms, and may create e-learning content. Flexibility is key, as schedules may need to adjust for last-minute requests or content updates. Physical demands are minimal but may occasionally include light lifting (e.g., arranging materials for workshops or events) and standing during in-person training sessions, workshops, or events.
This role reports directly to the National Education Manager. It is based out of our Cape town office and will require some travelling as well as office-based days.
