Job Description

A leading JSE listed company in the Automotive Industry is seeking to employ a Finance Executive with a strong Finance background, based in Edenvale, Johannesburg.

An energetic, deadline driven and hardworking individual with strong financial acumen.

This role will entail collaborating with the divisional Executive Teams, Board of Directors and Finance & Fund Committees to direct, add value and enable business decisions through practical consolidated financial analysis, reporting, and controls across various business functions in line with the divisional strategy. The role will report to the divisional CFO and have two direct reports.

Position Overview

Main activities will include:

To support the divisional CFO with:

  • All financial matters, including management & financial reporting, exco reporting, group reporting, forecast and budget development, planning & analysis
  • Oversight on risk, sustainability and the BBBEE scorecard
  • The management of operational matters, including directing of staff and monthly payroll
  • Ad-hoc requests from the CFO

Specific Role Responsibilities

  • Maintain overall supervision and responsibility for the completeness and accuracy of the accounting records of the division
  • Provide meaningful recommendations, explanations and highlights of concerns or anomalies by analysing and interrogating financial information
  • Manage annual budget and quarterly forecast process, monitor expenses, carry out balance sheet reconciliation review and manage reporting processes
  • Review consolidated monthly flash results and provide commentary
  • Review consolidated monthly management accounts and provide commentary
  • Consolidate financial reports (monthly exco, quarterly Board Packs, including Risk Register) and make value adding recommendations by using information from various sources
  • Engage with divisional and group finance departments on financial and other matters
  • Review tax processes to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable tax legislation and regulation
  • Provide advice and solutions to business on tax matters
  • Engage with internal and external auditors
  • Manage relationship with the Group reporting team ensuring deadlines are met and requests adhered to timeously
  • Review of the business accounting papers and technical matters
  • Ad hoc requests from the CFO

Qualifications and Experience

  • CA (SA) and 10 years post articles work experience
  • Worked previously as a finance leader
  • Critical thinking and inquisitive nature
  • An entrepreneurial spirit
  • Strong analytical ability to interpret financial information, attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task, cope under pressure, and succeed in a high-performance culture
  • Strong people management experience
  • Experience with multiple systems that interlink
  • Strong ability to adapt to change
  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Strong MS Office skills (Word, Excel (Advanced), PowerPoint, Visio)
  • Good current-day knowledge of IFRS
  • Understanding of financial systems - Microsoft Finance and Operations (F&O) experience advantageous
  • Understanding of Hyperion system is advantageous
  • Experience in the motor or financial services industry will be advantageous
