KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

•   Operate amphibious, long-reach and conventional excavators safely and efficiently, in and around water bodies (dams, mining ponds, rivers, estuaries, etc.).

•   Carry out vegetation removal, bank clearance, desilting, and support dredging operations.

•   Follow project-specific excavation and clearing plans with attention to environmental impact.

•   Conduct start-up and shutdown procedures in line with safety and operational standards.

•   Perform daily inspections, basic routine maintenance, and cleaning of the excavator and associated equipment.

•   Monitor excavator performance and report abnormalities or mechanical concerns promptly.

•   Monitor for obstacles, hazards, and changes in site conditions. 

•   Assist with excavator mobilization and demobilization.

•   Accurately log daily production, fuel usage, downtime, and maintenance events, and communicate these timeously as required. 

•   Follow all environmental, safety, and operational protocols.

•   Work collaboratively with team members and supervisors to meet project targets.

•   Attend all operational and safety related meetings as and when scheduled.

•   Be able to assess bank integrity and underwater hazards (e.g., submerged stumps, silt beds).

•   Ensure safe anchoring or stabilizing methods are in place when working on floating pontoons or soft terrain.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

•   2+ years’ experience as a excavator operator.

•   Comfortable working on or near water and able to pass a swim safety test.

•   Medically fit for physically demanding tasks and outdoor, aquatic environments.

•   Willingness to travel and work on remote job sites.

•   Team player with a teachable attitude and strong work ethic.

•   Valid driver’s license

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

•   Valid excavator operator certificate (preferably including amphibious or long-reach endorsements).
