Job Description

Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicines is recruiting for a Patient Care Advisor, located in Midrand, Johannesburg.

The role is both challenging and rewarding, supporting patients and prescribers in managing complex reimbursement processes impacting treatment outcomes positively. The role is fundamental in navigating complex reimbursement processes, co-ordinating treatments and reminder services.

An exciting opportunity awaits you to become a vital member of our patient support team, dedicated to delivering high-quality support through our various patient support programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the administrative processes associated with the reimbursement of biologic and other speciality medicines. Working closely with prescribing HCPs, their practice staff and patients, you will support them with the complex reimbursement processes of these medicines, enabling patients to receive their treatments promptly and efficiently.
  • Facilitate the treatment scheduling process with prescribers, patients, speciality pharmacies, medical aids and treatment centres. This includes obtaining the authorisations for infusion treatments and facilitating the timely medication delivery.
  • Manage the reminder service to support both HCPs and patients for the continuation of treatment.
  • Serve as a key contact for patients and prescribers for ongoing support and query management.
  • Stay abreast of funding changes, medical aid requirements, etc to engage in valuable discussions with HCPs, practices, and patients.
  • Collaborate with the relevant Market Access manager regarding rebuttals, funder protocols and issues at funder level.
  • Provide effective reporting to enhance patient support services and business decisions.
  • Ensure accurate and timely updates of the patient management system and provide effective reporting to enhance patient support services and business decisions.

  • Adhere to all relevant compliance regulations and completing necessary training.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Matric essential
  • Relevant B degree would be an advantage

Experience And Skills

Required:

  • Minimum of 3-5 year's customer experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Patient care & support experience.

Preferred

  • Knowledge of the private healthcare system, administrators and medical schemes.
  • Knowledge of the reimbursement of innovative medicines.

Computer skills

  • MS office at an intermediate level would be a minimum requirement

Language skills

  • Proficient in English
