Job Advert Summary
The Store Controller is responsible for maintaining optimal stock levels, ensuring proper storage conditions for all goods (perishable and non-perishable), and safeguarding inventory through strict adherence to control procedures. The role requires a high level of accuracy, accountability, and communication with internal departments and external suppliers to ensure efficient and cost-effective stock management.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience in a 4 or 5-star hotel environment.
- Strong knowledge of food and beverage products.
- Proficiency in Micros (Product Management System) is essential.
- Excellent administrative and organizational skills.
- Able to perform well under pressure with a high degree of accuracy and reliability.
- Professional appearance and communication skills.
- Grade 12 / Matric qualification.
- Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Duties and Responsibilities
- Place orders to maintain optimal stock levels, ensuring adherence to minimum/maximum stock requirements.
- Work with senior managers for approval on orders exceeding authorized limits or outside budgetary constraints.
- Source items exclusively through approved suppliers unless otherwise authorized.
- Verify the quality, quantity, and pricing of received goods against purchase orders and supplier agreements.
- Complete all delivery-related documentation accurately and promptly.
- Take corrective action in cases of non-delivery, poor quality, or pricing discrepancies.
- Store all goods under appropriate conditions (temperature, humidity, hygiene), ensuring that food items are never stored directly on the floor.
- Ensure proper stock rotation using the First-In, First-Out (FIFO) method.
- Issue stock strictly against authorized requisitions; no goods to leave stores without the necessary documentation or signatures.
- Maintain the security of all storeroom areas, ensuring no unauthorized access or key distribution.
- Report and document spoilage or damaged stock in accordance with company procedures.
- Conduct regular stock takes as scheduled, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
- Attend departmental meetings and training sessions as required.
