About the role
We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable aenior IT support technician to join our IT department. In this role, you will provide advanced technical support, troubleshoot complex IT issues, and serve as an escalation point for junior team members. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in IT support, strong problem-solving abilities, and excellent communication skills.
Key responsibilities
Provide advanced technical support to end-users across the organisation for hardware, software, network, and system issues
Troubleshoot and resolve complex IT problems that have get escalated
Install, configure, and maintain computer systems, software applications, and network equipment
Develop and maintain IT documentation, including procedures, policies, and knowledge base articles
Manage and monitor system performance and security
Implement IT projects and system upgrades as directed by the IT Manager
Train and mentor junior IT support staff
Collaborate with vendors and service providers to resolve technical issues
Conduct regular maintenance and updates to ensure optimal system performance
Respond to after-hours support requests on a rotational basis
Qualifications
Three-plus years of experience in a IT Support role with progressive responsibility
Advanced knowledge of operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux)
Strong understanding of network infrastructure and security principles
Experience with remote desktop support tools and ticketing systems
Familiarity with cloud services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
Knowledge of virtualisation technologies (VMware, Hyper-V)
Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, and domain environments
Certifications (one or more preferred)
CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+
Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate
Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert
Technical skills
Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
Knowledge of IT security best practices
Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions
Understanding of IT infrastructure (servers, storage, networking)
Proficiency in scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash, Python) is a plus
Experience with mobile device management (MDM) solutions
Soft skills
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
Strong customer service orientation
Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users
Time management and prioritisation skills
Adaptability and willingness to learn new technologies
