Job Advert Summary

A position for a Control Room Operator is currently vacant within the Operations Department of BTT Richards Bay.

The main purose of the job is to safely monitor and co-ordinate BTT plant operation activities from the Control Room to ensure optimal performance and customer satisfaction.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

Ability to engage and communicate at all level and external stakeholders.

Knowledge of BTT Richards Bay Emergency Procedures

Knowledge of SAP & SCADA system advantageous

Knowledge of ISO 9001,14001 and 45001

Completed Fire Training programme.

Computer proficient in Ms Office

Minimum Requirements

Matric with Mathematics and / or Science

Chemical operations training (NQF level 2) advantageous

Five years as an Operator in the chemical industry

Experience in more than one BTT operational plant advantageous.

Duties and Responsibilities

Operate and monitor SCADA systems for operational activities.

Monitor all tank levels and pressures at all times.

Report any discrepancies to the relevant Supervisor.

Complete the daily handover book accurately at the beginning and end of each shift.

Receive reports on attendance and channel the information to the correct personnel.

Control of trucks by liaising with both the plant operators and the check point

Timeously respond to all radio calls which are directed to the control room.

Conduct stop dips calculations on SAP at the beginning and during loading

Perform calculations for stop dips related to planned transfers

Monitor tank levels during vessel activities.

Liaise with Surveyor concerning the status of the ship.

Capture all mamba activities, record delays and record turnaround times on SAP.

Print ATG levels hourly and before and after rail loading/offloading.

Test and activate all deluge systems in emergencies and standard testing.

Activate the Emergency Alarm on the designated date and time in accordance with BTT standards.

Play key role in emergency situations.

Report any faulty equipment in the control room.
