What We Are Looking For
PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The Maintenance Engineer in responsible to plan and maintain manufacturing equipment according OHS Act regulations, RCM and according to manufacturer’s specifications. Minimize down time and make sure production is not affected by either planned or unplanned maintenance. The Maintenance Engineer performs routine equipment maintenance, trouble shoot issues and effects the necessary improvements to the maintenance system as required.

The Maintenance Engineer performs routine equipment maintenance, trouble shoot issues and effects the necessary improvements to the maintenance system as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the integration of the operational plans with engineering systems to ensure maximum plant availability according to organisational objectives.
- Provide technical support to the plants on engineering related matters to minimize downtime and possible engineering risks.
- Develop short, medium and long-term maintenance plans to meet business objectives.
- Analyse and interpret maintenance trends and variances, and initiate change.
- Ensure compliance to legislative requirements, engineering standards and specifications.
- Coordinate the preparation of all maintenance related project technical documents to ensure that the technical content and cost are within the scope of work.
- Monitor frequency and modes of equipment failures, breakdowns, accidents and overtime to drive root cause analysis suggests changes to processes and equipment to prevent reoccurrences.
- Participate in the maintenance budgeting process annually.
- Prepare weekly and monthly maintenance reports using systemic and qualitative data.
- Provide on-the-job coaching to the technicians and artisans in the team and develop their ability to perform predictive maintenance and problem solving.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- BEng/BSc or BTech in Mechanical Engineering.
- Government Certificate Competency (GCC Factories) and/or registration as PR Eng/PR-Tech Eng. would be advantageous.
- At least 5 years of experience in plant maintenance of which 3 years should have been in a supervisory/management role.
- Experience in Project Management would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of hazardous chemicals, in particular explosives, is preferred
- Sound knowledge of OHS Act and Legal Liability, including ISO 55000, 45001, 14001 and 9001 standards are important.
- Financial management skills would be advantageous.
- Computer literacy is essential, i.e. design and data analysis, system modelling (utilizing Excel, Matlab, Python or similar tools)
