Brief Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic Strategic Customer Development (SCD) Manager, based in Brazil, to drive customer engagement and business development for Biologics and Microbiology across key LATAM markets: Brazil (50%), Mexico (30%), Argentina (20%), and Colombia (10%). This leadership role is ideal for a professional passionate about innovation in the life sciences sector and skilled in cultivating high-impact relationships.

As a core member of the LATAM team, the SCD Manager will take ownership of customer and stakeholder engagement, overseeing a portfolio of approximately 30 strategic accounts in the Biologics segment. This includes identifying and expanding opportunities with both established and emerging biopharmaceutical companies, reinforcing USP’s presence and value proposition in the region. Working in close partnership with the Marketing Director, LATAM Senior Director, and cross-functional teams such as Regional Program Operations (Bios PUT), the incumbent will co-develop and execute account plans aligned with global initiatives, driving measurable outcomes that contribute to LATAM’s strategic goals.

Collaboration will be key, this role will actively interface with Scientific Affairs and External Affairs to align on customer needs, market trends, and advocacy opportunities, amplifying USP’s impact through targeted promotion of its products and services.

The Strategic Customer Development Manager Has The Following Responsibilities

  • This position highly impact USP mission and current Global strategies/key resolution, by visiting and supporting Biologics customers, and by identifying new key people and decision-makers in Biologics market in LATAM, promoting USP’s products and services to support the improvement of quality of medicines.
  • This person will impact USP sustainability by developing and implementing engagement strategies to grow USP RS Bios sales and to expand relationships with its target-audience. Likewise, they will create high-valued relationships to increase USP’s account penetration and the overall value of USP within each account and stakeholders.
  • Works closely with Biologics Global team by understanding Bios strategies and activities to be adequately implemented in LATAM market. Also, they will actively participate as a champion in Bios Global regional team to represent LATAM.
  • Works with LATAM Marketing & LATAM Sr. Director, other LATAM team members in analyzing data, preparing reports on Biologics revenue trends for USP and competitor products, and make recommendations on business impact and directions.
  • Develop an overall understanding of USP’s business in its targeted market (Bios). Understands the macro and micro factors that influence USP’s overall business to factors relevant to specific users (of USP products and/or services) within manufacturer organizations.
  • Work in collaboration and supporting GEA team to provide training/Bios workshops to Regulators and stakeholders.
  • Acquires knowledge on how the customers use USP products and identify areas for potential new business.
  • Analyzes sales data for domestic and regional accounts and identifies trends and patterns that can assist the RPO staff in developing strategic plans for future revenue growth.
  • Participates in User Forums, face-to-face and/or virtual customer visits and USP trade shows to educate customers and to promote USP reference standards, publications, and education products.

The Successful Candidate Will Have a Demonstrated Understanding Of Our Mission, Commitment To Excellence Through Inclusive And Equitable Behaviors And Practices, Ability To Quickly Build Credibility With Stakeholders, Along With The Following Competencies And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy, biotechnology, or chemistry.
  • Sales and account management experience in the Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical and/or Biopharma Lab Services industries.
  • Strong account and project management skills required.
  • Flexibility to travel to other countries, such as Mexico, Argentina and Colombia.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Self-motivated and proactive with sense of urgency, ability to prioritize and focus on key objectives and able to work in a fast-paced multi-task environment.
  • Proven aptitude for building relationships, credibility, and trust with customers, and creating a collaborative work environment.
  • Ability to influence without direct authority.
  • Solution-oriented and innovative; can identify creative options for resolving issues that respond to multiple customer interests and needs.
  • Native Portuguese; Proficiency in Spanish and English.

Additional Desired Preferences

  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of pharma industries with established contacts within the research, lab management and product development departments.
  • Scientific background and understanding coupled with successful sales track record are strongly preferred.
  • Experience in an analytical laboratory desired.
  • Experience delivering oral presentations to groups of people desired.
  • Proven ability to convert prospects into customers and build long term relationships.
