We have an exciting opportunity available for a Field Visual Merchandiser Specialist to join our Operations team in Cape Town. This role involves implementing visual merchandising strategies across selected stores, training and upskilling store staff, and ensuring consistent, high-quality visual standards. The objective is to enhance the in-store customer experience and drive sales through effective visual execution.

We’re looking for a creative, results-driven professional with strong leadership and communication skills, who thrives in a fast-paced retail environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Transitional Period:

Attend and actively participate in Seasonal VM Alignment session. During this session the strategy for the season as well as supporting resources will be shared:

  • Pre-populated presentation template
  • VM Seasonal calendar
  • Mock training session
  • Video material

SBU roll out to all stores:

  • Using provided resources, schedule; prepare for and host roll out training session.
  • Support the roll out to store staff (which will happen via a TMT / ALC).

Peak Season:

Field VM Roadshow in the form of nodal roll out workshops.

  • Using the VM tools and resources available, the workshop should be focused on further upskilling the store staff on the seasonal strategy and implementation thereof.

Regular visits to top 10 stores as per predetermined regional store list

Tail End Period:

  • Regional stores / Special requirements
  • Low / high density solutions
  • Transitional guide
  • DVM rolls down to SBU / Divisions by means of presentation / Virtual Session

Promotional Events:

  • Focus on the top 10 regional store list

Company Initiatives (Project) Launches:

  • Roll out of a training pack in support of the launch – SBU/DSM/Stores, after a Support Centre briefing session with field VM team

New Store Openings (NSO'S) Support:

  • Focus during time spent at the store will be to train all the staff to understand seasonal and promotional principles. In order to equip them to maintain the standard after opening.
  • Resources: Seasonal look, promotional manual, NSO manual.

Stakeholder Alignment:

  • Drive cross-functional collaboration/integration with all relevant areas of the business with regards to related initiatives that impact the execution of the VM in stores.
  • Build positive relationships with internal stakeholders to deliver VM seasonal and promotional plans to support below-the-line campaigns and oversee above-the-line campaigns.
  • Support stakeholders through sharing expert VM knowledge
  • Represent the VM department in meetings:
    • Share VM best practice and make relevant recommendations
    • Gather & present relevant information
    • Share a consolidated data and trends with all relevant stakeholders
    • Drive effective change management
    • Provide regular feedback and ensure that all stakeholders remain aligned throughout the implementation of VM related initiatives/plans.

    Effectively control personal budgets:

    • Reviewed monthly
    • Managed with confidence, great understanding and any overspend is communicated

    What We’re Looking For:

    Knowledge & Expertise:

    Knowledge of VM best practices and principles, techniques and VM trends as well an excellent grasp of customer behaviour.

    Skills & Competencies:

    • Excellent organizational skills, planning, project management, and time management expertise
    • Self-reliant, self-motivated, results-orientated
    • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills - the ability to interact and influence effectively at all levels
    • A good balance between creative flair and practical execution is critical
    • Effective problem-solving abilities are crucial
    • The ability to follow both written and verbal instruction with great attention to detail and thoroughness is essential
    • Training/Coaching skills
    • Computer literacy (Word, Excel & PowerPoint).

    Qualifications & Experience:

    Essential:

    • Grade 12 (Matric)
    • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a visual fashion merchandising role with a reputable / value retail clothing chain.
    • The ability to translate & train VM specifications into the specific store environments and displays in a simple and understandable manner.
    • Valid driver’s license & willingness to travel extensively.

    Preferred:

    • A relevant Communications/Marketing/Design Certificate
