Summary of Role:



As the Quality Controller, you will be responsible for leading the quality process on site, ensuring timely inspections as per the ITP presented by the Contractor, as well as checking and ensuring compliance with design and acceptable quality standards. The role will be based on site.


What you will do:


  • Assist the Project Engineer and RE in ensuring adherence to project specifications.
  • Implement quality control measures to uphold construction standards.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to address technical issues promptly.
  • Review project specifications, design documents, and other relevant documentation to understand the quality requirements.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of quality control procedures.
  • Conduct regular inspections of construction activities, materials, and equipment to verify compliance with project specifications including Method Statements and QITPs.
  • Coordinate and witness testing activities for solar PV components, ensuring they meet performance and quality criteria.
  • Perform quality audits on subcontractors and suppliers on site to assess their compliance with quality standards.
  • Oversee commissioning activities and ensure proper documentation and testing procedures are followed.
  • Document and report any non-conformance issues promptly, providing recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Work closely with project stakeholders to implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Analyse data related to project quality, identifying trends, areas for improvement, and potential risks.
  • Generate reports to communicate the status of quality control to project stakeholders.
  • Verify that all quality requirements have been met before final acceptance.
  • Support the smooth handover of the solar PV facility to the operations and maintenance team.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to lessons learned sessions.
  • Implement feedback loops to continuously enhance the quality control process


What we require:



  • 3-5 years Electrical construction experience/experience in renewable energy (solar).
  • Diploma in Engineering (Electrical)
  • Fluent in English; fluency in other languages is considered an advantage.
  • Knowledge of ISO9001 and or similar quality management systems.
  • Good proactive and practical approach
  • Skilled in interfacing with site construction activities with proven ability to manage the interfaces and planning with various stakeholders
  • Capable of teamwork in a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary setting
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to use Microsoft software. Other software packages such as MS Project and SharePoint to be advantageous.
  • Experience with Document control systems is advantageous.
  • A valid South African driver's license
