HEAD OF CONTENT

Overview

We are seeking a Cape Town-based Head of Content to lead the development and execution of high-impact content strategies for a portfolio of top-tier clients. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 8 years of experience in content creation, storytelling, and creative ideation across financial services, corporate, retail and consumer industries. Prior experience in leading a team of writers and designers required, preferably within a leading agency or corporate environment. The role requires a deep understanding of brand storytelling, content marketing, and Earned Media content creation across multiple platforms, ensuring all content aligns with business objectives and industry best practices.

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

Lead and develop content strategies that align with client objectives, brand positioning, and audience engagement goals.

Oversee the creation of compelling, high-quality content across various formats, including digital, social, video, written, and visual media.

Manage a team of writers and designers, fostering a high-performance and creative culture.

Ensure all content produced is engaging, accurate, and aligned with brand tone, messaging, and business goals.

Collaborate with PR, digital, and creative teams to integrate content into broader marketing and communications strategies.

Monitor industry trends, audience insights, and content performance metrics to optimise and refine content strategies.

Oversee content calendar planning, workflow management, and project delivery to ensure deadlines are met.

Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners.

Provide thought leadership on content marketing best practices, emerging platforms, and innovative storytelling techniques.

Manage content-related budgets, ensuring cost-effective production and efficient resource allocation.

Drive content optimisation strategies for improved search visibility and engagement.

Lead content governance, including brand guidelines, tone of voice, and content compliance standards.

Requirements / Experience / Skills:

Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills across multiple formats and platforms.

Strong digital and social media expertise, including experience with content distribution and amplification strategies.

Experience managing teams and mentoring content professionals.

Knowledge of SEO best practices and content marketing strategies.

Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple content initiatives simultaneously.

Excellent presentation and communication skills.

Proficiency in social media tools, and creative software.
