Job Summary:
We are seeking a proactive and motivated Lead Critical Facilities Engineer to join our team.
As a Lead Critical Facilities Engineer, you will be the custodian of engineering assets on site.
This role will focus on advancing new concepts and techniques while consistently working on complex assignments that demand independent action.
You will be carrying out timeous and quality planned, preventative and emergency maintenance on all specified equipment to give effect to the business maintenance strategy and client service standards.
The ideal candidate will possess practical knowledge of working on air breakers, UPS, Chillers, Generators and PLCs and will have 5yrs relevant experience in the Data Centre (Maintenance) field
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure that all assets receive the necessary life cycle and enhancement services.
Ensure that assets are controlled, operated and to the necessary operational specifications.
Ensure that all engineering services are always efficiently, effectively maintained, and controlled according to the Client’s specifications as stated in the applicable agreements.
Ensure optimal operation of Data Centre infrastructure services by implementing maintenance and operational standards to comply with the service standards specified.
Manage and implement innovation and other initiatives to improve availability, reliability, and asset life cycle.
Ensures high reliability and availability of the data centre and related equipment
Conducts highly skilled preventative and corrective maintenance on-site for critical facility systems.
Performs/Oversee advanced maintenance repairs, corrective maintenance, and complex installations.
Resolves advanced incidents and develops new procedures and techniques to assist the team.
Monitors the Building Monitoring System (BMS) and addresses alarms for complex assignments requiring independent action and a high degree of initiative.
Provides recommendations for new procedures to the management team.
Leads and coordinates critical facility operations.
Implements energy efficiency measures and identifies areas of improvement.
Qualifications:
Education: ND Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or N6 in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering with Trade Test
Experience: 5yrs relevant experience in the Data Centre (Maintenance) field
Certification: Professional Technician (ECSA) (added advantage); Wireman’s License (added advantage)
Knowledge: Practical knowledge of working on air breakers, UPS, Chillers, Generators and PLCs
Skills: Excellent teamwork and communication skills. Ability to work proactively in a fast-paced environment.
