Key Responsibilities:
- Leading the QA/Food Safety Systems implemented at the Gifting Site
- Ensuring that the systems in place for BRCGS, Organics & customer specific standards (WWs SA) are implemented at the site, updated & ensuring audit objectives are met. Procedure updates are done within the integrated systems implemented across CHS sites.
Job Objectives:
- Ensure that an adequate food safety and quality system is in place at the Gifting site and ensure that the requirement of the system is adhered to and fully implemented.
- Drive continuous improvement of systems in place at Gifting
- Meet internal quality and food safety team goals / objectives set
- Deadlines of tasks must be met.
Key Functional Areas:
- Staff Supervision – Co-ordinating the team’s activities
- Technical Customer Assistance: Ensure that customer complaint investigations are conducted and reviewed in required times set, Customer Questionnaires, Updating Customer On-line portals. When required liaise with the customer technologists.
- GMP audits & day to day monitoring of GMP practices in the factory: Develop and set quality standards for the factory. Conducting internal audits (GMP audits) & report results in the organisation
- Non-conformances, Corrective Actions: Ensure that there is adequate investigation and managing non-conformances and corrective actions at the site. Where required work with suppliers to resolve Non-conformances.
- Review and update procedures
- Grocery Items Supplier approvals, assist in approvals on raw materials and packaging materials. Keeping the on-line system of suppliers for approval up to date. Reviewing supplier information submitted for supplier approval.
- In-take QC of goods received at site/ Grocery items: Ensuring that the QC procedures are followed, review QC information before release of goods on SYSPRO.
- Shelf life extensions – assist when stock is out of date to review shelf life.
- Testing Schedule: Co-ordinate testing with the spice technologist, ensure registers of testing is kept up to date, check results received & report on results within the organization, check invoices related to testing.
- Allergen officer for site (Ensuring an adequate allergen management system is implemented, conducting allergen validations, ensuring allergen verifications are performed)
- HACCP site team leader for gifting – update and review the HACCP study for groceries/ assembly process at gifting; work with the spice sites HACCP team leaders in updating HACCP study, Updating procedures and documents.
- Work within the collaborative, cross site environment
- Ensure that you attend required meetings, take actions required following meetings
- Ensuring measuring and monitoring devices are calibrated and serviced as needed.
- Co-ordinate close out of audit findings from external audits & co-ordinate site activities linking to external audits
- Providing the Operational Department with support
- Technical day to day problem solving as they arise
- Other tasks include Training, traceability studies/ mass balances, mock recalls
- Projects – run and set up projects as required for the implementation of new requirements or to complete required tasks
- General
Required Knowledge & Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft office products (excel, word, outlook)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (in particular, in English). Able to effectively communicate with staff at all levels
- Accurate and concise in work to ensure that information provided to others is accurate and clearly understandable
- Good research skills and has the ability to analyse data
- Strong administrative skills
- Presentable
- Strong ability to multitask with an emphasis on collective, collaborative teamwork.
Required Prior Learning/ Experience:
- B. Tech/ Advanced Diploma in Food Consumer Sciences, B.Tech / Advanced Diploma Food Technology/ B. Sc Food Science / B. Sc Biotechnology or other relevant science related degree. Copies of qualifications must be submitted with a CV
- Minimum 4+ years relevant industry experience
- Prior training & experience in internal auditing, HACCP, BRCGS standards, Internal audit training, FSMA regulations (PCQI individual) will put a candidate at an advantage.
- Proficient in working in Microsoft programs (outlook, excel, word)
- Valid drivers license & Own reliable transport
