Trafalgar PTA is in search of an experienced Debt Collector to join their dynamic team.


Role and Responsibilities:


As a Debt Collector, your primary responsibility will be to efficiently and effectively collect outstanding debts using established debt collection procedures.


Your role will include:


  • Communicating through various channels, including telephone, letters, and legal proceedings, to collect overdue debt.
  • Performing administrative tasks such as account reconciliation, payment allocation, addressing client inquiries, preparing documents, and managing debt collection recoveries.
  • Participating in meetings with managers to review debt collection progress.

Key Performance Indicators:


Your success in this role will be measured against key performance indicators, including:


  • Achieving a collection rate exceeding 100% of monthly charges raised.
  • Attending to email and SMS rejections on a monthly basis, aiming for a consistent decrease.
  • Maintaining debtor account flagging without gaps on arrear units.
  • Meeting daily and monthly call targets for both incoming and outgoing calls within your budget.
  • Increasing payment plans and debit orders on a month-to-month basis.
  • Ensuring no exceptions of missing notes on arrear accounts, guaranteeing all debtors are contacted and recorded monthly.
  • Matching or surpassing the monthly agent fee budget for all charges.
  • Assisting walk-in clients.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills:


To be considered for this role, candidates should meet the following requirements:


  • National Senior Certificate (Matric Certificate).
  • Proficiency in written and spoken language, with bilingual capabilities.
  • A minimum of three years' experience in a debt collection environment (rental and levy collection experience would be an advantage) excluding call centre environments.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Intermediate skill level in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Own vehicle and drivers licence
