Role Responsibilities

  • Establish, maintain, update and actively manage project budgets, actuals, forecasts and cost flow within the cost control processes.
  • Monitor and control project expenditure, including verifying and checking invoices and claims from suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure they are within the planned budget.
  • Generate and present reports to all project leads:
    • cost estimates, budgets, and financial reports.
    • cost performance reports to project stakeholders, including variance analysis and explanations for any deviations from the budget.
    • Develop, update, and monitor earned value management (EVM) data and reports with project leads.
  • Liaise/interface with Finance:
    • regarding financial data and transactions in the financial system.
    • to understand and forecast all revenue and cost, project expenditures, revenue recognition, customer invoicing, cash flows, etc.
  • Develop and maintain project staffing plans.
  • Conduct and facilitate detailed cost analysis to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for cost savings.
  • Ensure that all changes to the project scope, schedule, and cost are properly documented and approved through change management processes.
  • Provide project cost management input to the Project Controls Plan, ensuring alignment between project functions (e.g., Schedule – Cost interface at the project level)

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an Engineering / Construction company or equivalent in the Project Controls function.
  • Relevant qualification e.g. Project Costing Diploma, Project Management, Construction Management, Engineering Degree or Diploma
  • Demonstrating experience and understanding of project management principles
  • Thorough knowledge of related project controls functions, including estimating, cost control, change control, and reporting principles.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.


Added Advantage

  • Certification with institutions like AACE International, Project Management Institute (PMI), APMG International, and Project Controls Institute (desirable).
  • Knowledge of Deltek Vantagepoint.
  • Experience in using different specialist applications e.g. Cost Management software, Power BI.
