Purpose of Role: (To prepare moulds on the casting bay ready for casting.)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world class safety culture.
  • Technical
o Ensure moulds are prepared in the correct sequence per weight and temperatures. Clamping and sealing of moulds. Remove moulds from casting bay after pouring. Inspect moulds at casting bay before clamping and after sealing. Ensure correct material grades are prepared for pouring during each heat. Control of pouring sheets and temperatures. Do moulds counts per material grade at the start of shift and as when required. Communicate with senior melter for material requirements.
  • Operation
o Operate crane. De-slag. Maintain 5’s on the casting bay. Take temperature reading on the ladle before and during pouring. Apply hot toping during pouring. Deslag ladle before and during pouring.

Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:
  • • Matric (Grade 12); or 12 to 24 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid driver’s license. Valid forklift license. Overhead crane license
