A leading design and marketing agency is looking for a Part-Time Server Administrator who can blend technical expertise with proactive problem-solving to ensure the reliability and efficiency of their IT infrastructure.
Location:
Remote (Work from Home), 16 to 24 hours per week OR 2 or 3 full eight-hour days (EST)

Key Responsibilities
- Monitor & Maintain Server Health: Proactively check server performance, disk space, and resource utilization to ensure optimal operation.
- Perform Regular Software & Security Updates: Schedule and apply operating system, server application, and security patches promptly to maintain a secure and stable environment.
- Maintain WordPress Instances: Ensure WordPress core software and plugins are kept up to date across managed sites, addressing any compatibility issues that arise.
- Manage User Accounts & Permissions: Create, modify, and disable user accounts and manage access rights according to security policies.
- Troubleshoot & Resolve Server & Website Issues: Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, network-related server problems, and website-specific issues (including those related to hacks or malware) in a timely manner.
- Implement & Monitor Backup Procedures: Ensure regular data backups are successfully completed and perform test restores as needed.
- Enhance & Monitor Security Posture: Assist in implementing and monitoring security measures, including firewalls, antivirus, malware scanners, and intrusion detection systems; respond to security alerts.
- Document System Configurations & Procedures: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of server configurations, security protocols, incident responses, and issue resolutions.
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in Server Administration, with a focus on cloud environments and security.
- Proficiency with AWS services, specifically including S3 (Simple Storage Service) for storage management and Route 53 for DNS management.
- Experience managing servers on DigitalOcean.
- Strong understanding and hands-on experience with the Ubuntu Linux distribution.
- Demonstrated ability to transfer websites (migrate sites between servers/platforms).
- Familiarity with MySQL database administration and management.
- Experience using RunCloud.io for server management and deployment is highly desirable.
- Proven experience in handling hacked/compromised websites, including identification, cleanup, and preventative measures.
- Ability to configure and manage server-side malware scanning tools and implement remediation procedures.
- Knowledge of WordPress (installation, configuration, troubleshooting, security hardening) is a significant plus.
- Understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs) and security best practices.
- Attendance/Punctuality: Consistently able to work agreed-upon part-time hours, potentially including some overlap with USA-based business hours for critical tasks or team collaboration. Responsive during scheduled hours.
- Communicate Clearly: Fluent in English and able to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, especially when detailing technical issues, security incidents, and proposed solutions.
- Organizational Support: Learn and adopt agency/company policies and procedures quickly, especially as it relates to IT support ticketing, change management, security protocols, and client communication.
- Teamwork & Independence: Work effectively as part of a collaborative team, sharing knowledge and assisting colleagues, while also capable of working independently, taking initiative, and managing tasks with minimal supervision.
