Job Purpose
The Department of Infrastructures, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a suitably and competent individual to render efficient and effective fraud and loss management services.
Minimum Requirements
Grade 12 (Senior Certificate or equivalent qualification) with Accounting and/or Mathematics as a passed subject; A valid code B (or higher) driving licence. NB: People with disabilities that restrict driving abilities, but who have reasonable access to transport may also apply.
Recommendation
Proven experience/exposure in Loss Control and basic investigation skills; Ability to adhere to strict financial and quarterly deadlines/timeframes and work under pressure.
Key Performance Areas
Claims against the State (RCD Claims recoverables); Theft (losses or damages through criminal acts or omissions); Assist to investigate collisions (AD’s and ADM's) and compiling BAS (Basic Accountant System) payments and journals for damages and losses and theft and losses; Register of cases on the Western Cape Government Loss Control System and ensuring that the electronic register is updated regularly with the required information; Assist with compiling referrals to the State Attorney via Legal Services; Assist with drafting of write-off submissions, submissions to the higher authority and memorandums to management.
Competencies
Knowledge and understanding of the following: WCG Control processes and procedures; Management of losses and claims as per PFMA, NTR, PTI, Transport Circular 4 of 2000, Departmental Security policy, Prescription Act 68 of 1969 and the process to recover losses; Monitor and prevent prescription; Skills in the following: Communication (written and verbal) and report writing; Basic investigations, organising, planning (time management), problem solving and analytical; Ability to assess evidence w.r.t losses and claims and basic investigation.
Remuneration
R 228 321 - R 268 950 per annum (Salary level 5)
Note on remuneration in addition to service benefits or obligations for qualifying employees (medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc) are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
Notes
Shortlisted candidates will be required to submit documentation for verification purposes and criminal record vetting. These candidates will be required to complete a practical assessment and attend interviews on a date and time determined by the department and may also be required to undergo competency assessments/proficiency tests. The selection process will be guided by the EE targets of the employing department.
