Job Purpose

The Western Cape Government is seeking to acquire the services of a creative and innovative individual to create an enabling environment in the manufacturing industry to stimulate economic growth.

Minimum Requirements

  • Appropriate Degree (NQF 7) in Economics or BCom Degree related to Manufacturing:
  • 5 years of middle or senior management experience relating to economic development and or the manufacturing sector; and
  • The successful completion of theSenior Management Pre-entryProgramme (see paragraph 4 innotes below).

Recommendation

  • A valid code B drivers’ license

Key Performance Areas

  • Manage the development of sector strategies and policies including the implementation thereof;
  • Build and maintain networks with key stakeholders and ensure horizontal and vertical alignment within the sector;
  • Develop, support and implement the market growth and the promotion of the sector as it relates to trade and investment;
  • Identify sector specific blockages and participate in the unlocking of opportunities in order to achieve strategic outcomes; and
  • Oversee, co-develop and support programmes to improve sector competitiveness and development.

Remuneration

All-inclusive salary package of R 1 216 824.00 per annum (Level 13). Note: The remuneration package consists of a basic salary (70%) and the employer’s contribution to the Pension Fund. The remainder of the package may be structured according to your personal needs.

3) All shortlisted candidates will be subjected to a technical exercise that intends to test relevant technical elements of the job, the logistics of which will be communicated by the Department. Following the interview and technical exercise, the selection panel will recommend candidates to attend a generic managerial competency assessment(compliance with the DPSA directive on the implementation of competency based assessments).The competency assessment will be testing generic managerial competencies using the mandated DPSA SMS Competency Assessment tools.

4) The nominated candidate will be required to complete the Senior Management Pre-Entry Programme before they may be appointed into this post. The purpose of the Senior Management Pre-Entry Programme,which is a public service specific training programme applicable to all applicants who aspire to join the SMS, is to ensure that potential SMS members have a backgroundon processes and procedures linked to the SMS.
