The Africas Payroll Administrator role is at the heart of our ongoing global payroll operations, acting as the interface between our global customers and in-country partners across Africa to ensure that their payrolls are consistently delivered accurately and on time while providing a best-in-class customer experience.
Alongside working with our in-country partners, the Payroll Administrator will be managing a portfolio of customers managing the delivery of end-to-end South African payrolls, ensuring that the service is consistently delivered accurately and on time while providing a best-in-class customer experience.
On a typical day you’ll be…
- Acting as the focal point for a varied portfolio of payroll clients, delivering consistently fantastic customer service
- Processing end-to-end South African payrolls of various headcounts and pay complexity
- Processing statutory deductions (PAYE, UIF, WCA, etc)
- Liaise with Finance regarding third party payment concerns
- Working closely with our network of in-country payroll partners to ensure customer payrolls are delivered on time and accurately
- Hosting and chairing regular governance calls with customers to track progress, review performance and identify opportunities for improvement
- Preparing monthly governance reports by country
- Ensuring that payroll manuals are relevant and updated regularly to reflect current processes
- Preparing payroll calendars and checklists, ensuring that checking sheets are completed for every payroll processed
- Making sure that any risks to service delivery are communicated quickly and realistically to the client and to the appropriate managers, and being innovative and agile in bringing solutions or mitigations to the table
- Answering queries from customers, partners and colleagues, troubleshooting and resolving where possible, or escalating more complex issues through our internal channels
This is a client centric role, so you'll have fantastic customer service skills and a knack for numbers, as well as the ability to manage a really varied workload with a lot of client and partner interaction.
- Matric or equivalent
- Tertiary studies in business administration, finance, or accounting would be advantageous
- Accsys/PeopleWare(Nutun), Sage VIP Premier / Business Cloud software experience advantageous but full training will be provided
- Working knowledge of relevant legal regulations would be advantageous (BCEA, Tax Act and COIDA)
- 3+ years experience in South African payroll processing
- A genuine commitment to delivering the highest standards of customer service, ready to go above and beyond to make sure the customer needs are at the heart of every action
- An unusually high attention to detail, with the ability to spot errors or notice when things “just don’t look right” - and motivated to follow these through to resolution
- Really good skills with databases, systems and software packages, especially Microsoft Excel
- A proactive approach to customer management, making sure that customers are fully updated and never in any doubt as to how their service is being delivered
- An honest and authentic communication style, able to face into both positive and difficult conversations
- A drive to be a brilliant team player, supporting colleagues across the team to ensure that customer service delivery is consistent across the department, providing help and guidance and ensuring no one is left behind
