The Marketing team at UpGuard includes multiple marketing and design functions, including Product Marketing, Demand Gen, Marketing Ops, Content Marketing, SEO, Community, Design, and Video. UpGuard’s vision is to become a leader in the markets we play in (Cyber VRM, Attack Surface Management) by providing a best-in-class SaaS platform for organizations to manage their third-party risk and external attack surface. Where does this role fit in? This role is integral to UpGuard's marketing and communication efforts, acting as a bridge between complex cybersecurity concepts and their diverse audience. You'll be responsible for creating a wide range of engaging and informative content, from blog posts with our Growth team to product materials with our Product Marketing Team. You'll work closely with various internal teams to ensure content accuracy and strategic alignment, ultimately helping businesses understand and protect themselves from cyber threats

What will you accomplish?

- Researching complex cybersecurity topics, threats, and technologies.
- Writing and editing various content formats, including blog posts, articles, white papers, case studies, website copy, social media updates, and technical documentation.
- Translating technical cybersecurity jargon into clear, concise, and engaging language for different audiences.
- Ensuring the accuracy, relevance, and adherence to industry standards and brand guidelines in all content.
- Optimising content for search engines (SEO) using relevant keywords.
- Contributing to the development of content strategies and planning content calendars.
- Interviewing cybersecurity experts and collaborating with product, engineering, and marketing teams.
- Reviewing and updating existing content to ensure accuracy and relevance.
- Collecting data, composing reports, and potentially contributing to developing or improving cybersecurity policies.
- Understanding and addressing the information needs of end-users.
What will you bring?

- A Bachelor's degree in IT, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Communications, Journalism, English, or a related field is preferred.
- Proven experience in technical writing or content writing, ideally within the technology or cybersecurity domain.
- Strong understanding of common cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and attack vectors (e.g., malware, phishing, ransomware).
- Knowledge of cybersecurity technologies, tools, and best practices (e.g., firewalls, encryption, multi-factor authentication).
- Familiarity with relevant cybersecurity frameworks, standards, and compliance regulations, including South Africa's POPIA.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with impeccable grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
- Ability to tailor writing style and tone to suit different target audiences.
- Strong research and analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex information.
- Familiarity with SEO principles and content optimization techniques.
- Proficiency in word processing tools (e.g., Google Docs, Microsoft Word).
- Experience with technical writing software or content management systems is desirable.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team remote environment.
