Job Description

The Financial Controls and Reconciliation Analyst is responsible for the management and review of general financial reconciliations for the South African entities. Furthermore, the position would own the reconciliation process for merchant balances and related third party fees as well as the management and reconciliation of internally generated intangible assets.

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Balance sheet reconciliations (NIPS and Payfast)
  • Manage the reconciliation process and make improvements where necessary
  • Ensure balance sheet reconciliations are performed timeously, are relevant and accurate
  • Assist the Finance Managers with the review of balance sheet reconciliations
  • Net merchant asset reconciliations (Payfast)
  • Maintain the Net Merchant Asset reconciliation workbooks and make improvements where necessary
  • Perform regular reconciliations of merchant liabilities, receivables and related balances
  • Interchange, referral partner and scheme fee reconciliations (Payfast)
  • Develop a reconciliation tool to effectively monitor third party fees
  • Perform regular reconciliations of third-party fees
  • Intangible asset management (NIPS and Payfast)
  • Liaise with development teams to accurately account for hours to be capitalised
  • Ensure capitalisation is aligned with Group policy and IFRS
  • Assist the Finance Managers in management of capitalisation process and make improvements where necessary
  • Technical accounting
  • Provide technical assistance and guidance to the finance team

Education

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BCom or similar
  • Newly qualified CA (SA) preferred

Experience

  • 5+ years reconciliation experience

Skills Required To Perform The Job Successfully

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel experience
  • Ability to work well under pressure with tight deadlines, juggle multiple priorities and in fast paced, dynamic environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
