The CIB Technology, Absa Access Core Frameworks Feature team is looking for a Front End Developer, based in Cape Town to apply critical thinking & problem solving skills to contribute to all phases of the development lifecycle & quickly produce well-organised, optimized, and documented source code to deliver high-performing, scalable, enterprise-grade applications.

Absa Access is a Pan-African, single sign-on platform that gives clients standardised, secure, and near real-time access to their business portfolios and the banking services. This enables them to make informed decisions to drive the growth of their businesses, managing their finances with the speed and intelligence that the platform provides.
You will work on the award winning Absa Access Online platform, comprising of a core framework that offers services and an extensible application environment. The platform is underpinned primarily by .Net Core micro-services, a message bus and open source technologies, deployed via Kubernetes, into a cloud-hosted environment.
Key critical skills and experience required:
Bachelor's Degree: Information Technology

Key critical skills and experience required:
- Relevant B-Degree in Computer Science or Diploma in Software Engineering preferred but not essential if minimum requirements of experience and practical application are evident
- Min 5 years relevant software development experience
- Strong experience in Angular
- Excellent understanding of specific coding / scripting languages eg. JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML and CSS
- Practical experience with appropriate unit testing and e2e framework(s) eg. Jest and Cypress
- Affinity for debugging and problem-solving
- Proficient in integrating with RESTful APIs securely and efficiently (.NET experience is advantageous)
- Solid understanding of Object Oriented Design and ability to properly apply general design patterns and paradigms
- Familiar with the Functional Programming paradigm (advantageous)
- Familiar with web components and native browser APIs (advantageous)
- A team player is required to form part of a small development team, but collaborating with other small teams who have similar responsibilities, forming part of the greater Absa Access Core Frameworks team
- Work closely with product owners, UI/UX designers, backend engineers and testers to create user-friendly experiences
- Apply critical thinking, design thinking and problem-solving skills in an agile team environment to solve technical problems (Front End, Back End OR Middleware) with high quality solutions
- Contribute to all phases of the development lifecycle
- Evaluate analysis, problem definition, business requirements, solution development & provide recommendations to enable the operational feasibility of solutions
- Quickly produce well-organised, optimised, and documented source code to deliver technical solutions
- Ensure designs & solutions support the technical organisation principles of self-service, repeatability, testability, scalability & resilience
- Apply general design patterns and paradigms to deliver technical solutions
- Support the development of CI / CD Pipelines (authoring & supporting CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps / similar tools and deploying to multi-site Kubernetes environments – supporting and managing your applications all the way to production)
- Use & configure modern observability techniques leveraging e.g. Analytics
- Automate tasks through appropriate tools and scripting e.g. Node
- Debug existing source code and polish feature sets.
- Work with integrated teams and other developers to improve and evolve technical products and services
- Align all application development & development process to Group Architecture & Infrastructure guidelines
- Provide input into project & program teams (when required) to plan & manage the development lifecycle e.g. releases, risk management, testing, integration etc.
- Conduct reviews, performance monitoring & ongoing optimisation and maintenance on applications
- Stay ahead of the curve on emerging technologies and development practices and continuously evolve existing knowledge & skill in preparation for cross domain and other experiences.
- Participate in incident management & DR activity – applying critical thinking, problem solving & technical expertise to get to the bottom of major incidents
