Job Description

RCL FOODS is seeking a Senior Risk Control Officer to join our Foods Division. The role will be based in Centurion and report to Risk Control Manager.

RCL FOODS entrusts the Senior Risk Control Officer to direct and coordinate all Risk Management aspects and activities and the development, implementation and management of Risk Control Programmes in accordance with company standards and internationally recognized principles in order to fulfill company strategies as well as compliance with SH&E legislative requirements.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Actively Interact with operational personnel, departmental managers on SHER Matters
  • Active management of the SHER Management Systems
  • Foster positive relationships with regulatory authorities (Department of Labour, SAPS, PSIRA, Metro Police, Fire Department)
  • Work proactively with Management to maintain and enhance a SHER programme of continual improvement
  • Provide clear leadership for the development of a safe environment
  • Ensure that the safety and environmental programmes are carried out efficiently throughout all the Site
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory standards
  • Provide regular reports to management of the systems implemented
  • Keep abreast of legislated changes and best practice methods and implement them at the Site
  • Use of trend analysis to identify system deficiencies and incident trends, outline relevant improvements
  • Complete preventative inspections on a regular basis and ensure records are maintained accordingly. (Walkabout, PJO, Staff address)
  • Actively causing for Site preparations for periodical SHER audits (Planned & Unplanned)
  • Investigate accidents and ensure all documentation is updated on the SHEQX Systems.
  • Drive a periodical SHER communication strategy on sites including written information, toolbox talks and management briefs on Noticeboards
  • Advise line management in factories and offices on site of SHER matters and manage these process to ensure all advice is incorporated into day-to-day processes and operations
  • Facilitate conducting and implementation of risk assessments (e.g. HSE baselines, Issue based, Fire and Security)
  • Conduct occupational health and safety related surveys e.g. noise, lighting, exposure to rubber substances and make associated recommendations
  • Maintain compliance, laws, regulations, guidelines and policies.
  • Analyze and report on NCRs to management.
  • Coordinate closely with the Project’s team to ensure all Site Projects do happen safely in line with the Contractor’s Management program

Minimum Requirements

  • Matric or Grade 12
  • Completed: N. Diploma in Safety Management/Environmental Science/ NEBOSH National or International Diploma
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a FMCG environment.
  • SAMTRAC will be an added advantage.
  • HSE Implementation and Internal Audit (ISO 14001 and ISO 45001)
  • Advanced SHER related training
