The Operations Department has a vacancy for Junior Inspector at the Paarl Regional Office to conduct inspection of products and equipment according to standard protocols as prescribed through PPECB’s legislative mandate and for the developmental opportunities for some of our seasonal employees to gain additional competencies within the remainder of the 24-month period of the programme.

The Perishable Products Export Control Board (PPECB) is an independent service provider of quality certification and cold chain management services for South African producers and exporters of perishable food products.
Established in 1926, the PPECB has delivered valuable services to the perishable products industry for over 90 years by enhancing the credibility of the South African export certificate and supporting the export competitiveness of South Africa's perishable product industries.
Skills

- TITAN 2.0 competency;
- I-thrive (e.g., managing my time; dealing with conflict; etc.);
- Additional soft-skills courses to promote professional skills; and
- Additional courses to prepare for the new world of work (NWOW)
Areas Of Responsibilities
- Inspect and certify perishable products;
- Inspect the handling, storage and transport of perishable products;
- Ensure the correct application of quality management systems, BMS procedures and working instructions;
- Perform administrative tasks;
- Build and maintain good relations with PPECB clients;
- Communicate with various clients on own specific task and outcome of decisions;
- Participate in the relief duty roster;
- Accept the responsibility of continuous self-improvement in their area of responsibility
- A National Diploma in an agricultural or food science disciplines.
- National Certificate: Perishable Produce Export Technology (AETP) would be advantageous.
- Practical experience, theoretical knowledge and competence in Citrus.
- Practical experience, theoretical knowledge/exposure related to the specified geographical area and/or competency in Stone fruit would be advantageous.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Computer literate.
- The ability to work independently and / or with minimum supervision.
- A valid code 08 driver's license and own reliable vehicle is a requirement for doing the job.

- Competency records (verified by the Harmonization Specialist)
- Performance records at the PPECB
- Disciplinary records during their service/contract at the PPECB
